Story
Persuasion, Jane Austen's last novel, is a tale of love and marriage told with irony and insight. Anne Elliot and Captain Wentworth have met and seperated years before. Their reunion, after the passage or irrecoverable years of their youth, forces a recognition of the false values that drove them apart.

like the generations before me I've loved austen since I could read. when I was young p&p and Emma held my foolish heart. Today I celebrate 50 years on this weird bit of rock and still I love Austen. But I look to this book now to nourish my more battered heart. Thoroughly recommend this version, Greta Scacchi is pure class.

I enjoyed it and the premise was interesting but it's like there were 3 books packed into one. There are quite a few continuity issue that I kinda got hooked up on. All over quite repetitious.
Narrator is fantastic and made this readable.

I have just finished the Le Carre books and wanted more spy drama.. I remember my foster parents reading Forsyth books as a child.. What I loved about this book is that it hasn't dated, it was dramatic and the narration was superb. Characters were multi faceted. Brilliant book. If you like Le carre you may like this as muchas I did.

Story
As investigators brought out the bagged remains of several dozen young men from a small Chicago ranch home and paraded them in front of a crowd of TV reporters and spectators, attention quickly turned to the owner of the house. John Gacy was an upstanding citizen, active in local politics and charities, famous for his themed parties and appearances as Pogo the Clown. But in the winter of 1978-79, he became known as one of many so-called “sex murderers” who had begun gaining notoriety in the random brutality of the 1970s.

I really 'enjoyed' listening to the lives of these young men. Much more interesting than the perpetrator. Lots of poverty, lots of heartbreak, I'm glad I listened and got a glimpse of their brief lives.
