Story
All good things come to an end. And this is it: the last stand of the Ketty Jay and her intrepid crew. They've been shot down, set up, double-crossed and ripped off. They've stolen priceless treasures, destroyed a 10,000-year-old Azryx city and sort-of-accidentally blew up the son of the Archduke. Now they've gone and started a civil war. This time, they're really in trouble.

Actually very good series with enough likeable rouges to invest in. Narrator always good at adding pace and atmosphere, but the Sir Sean Connery voice in book3, not your best.

I've tried to listen to this book on two separate occasions but have struggled to find anything to recommend it. Rare that I fail to finish a book but this one just ambles along at a snails pace. I guess you need to be a true fan of The Vampire Chronicles.

Joe Abercrombie's books really are special. If you enjoy none stop pace and well constructed characters, fill your boots.
Steven Pacey has once again brought the whole thing to life and I have the distinct impression that he had as much fun breathing life into all of the characters, as I did listening to his narration.

Story
Sometimes there is very good reason to be afraid of the dark…. Eleven-year-old Arlen lives with his parents on their small farmstead, half a day's ride from the isolated hamlet of Tibbet's Brook. As dusk falls upon Arlen's world, a strange mist rises from the ground; a mist that promises a violent death to any foolish enough to brave the coming darkness, for hungry corelings - demons that cannot be harmed by mortal weapons - materialize from the vapours to feed on the living.

Story
They say Black Dow's killed more men than winter, and clawed his way to the throne of the North up a hill of skulls. The King of the Union, ever a jealous neighbour, is not about to stand smiling by while he claws his way any higher. The orders have been given and the armies are toiling through the northern mud. Thousands of men are converging on a forgotten ring of stones, on a worthless hill, in an unimportant valley, and they've brought a lot of sharpened metal with them.

It really does not get much better than this. I am a huge fan of all of Joe Abercrombie’s work as well as Steven Pacey’s narration. So much so that I have listened to all of his books for a second time. Something I have never done before. All his books are totally gripping, full of pace and darkly funny. Every character is relevant and some have huge personalities which are brought to life by Steven Pacey’s gift for narration. Word of advice - spend some time sorting Joe Abercrombe’s books into order and start with the first, you will not be disappointed.

Story
The Deliverer has returned, but who is he? Arlen Bales, formerly of the small hamlet of Tibbet’s Brook, learnt harsh lessons about life as he grew up in a world where hungry demons stalk the night and humanity is trapped by its own fear. He chose a different path; chose to fight inherited apathy and the corelings, and eventually he became the Painted Man, a reluctant saviour. But the figure emerging from the desert, calling himself the Deliverer, is not Arlen.

Disappointing
Reviewed: 05-06-13
Maybe I was expecting too much for my intro to Ellen Kushner, but I blame that on the publicity I read before adding this audio book to my wishlist. For me, the story seemed weak with little scope and I actually found the multiple narrators a distraction not a bonus. Sorry, but I like to hear the same character's voice throughout. In this audio book it was Ellen Kushner one moment and then another narrator the next and this happened with a number of the characters. A semi-play format may have seemed a really good idea but it just did not work for me.
