Story
Suddenly Maddy is right there… in her very own future. And it’s all wrong, yet again. It happens to her every time. When the kisses lead to the bedroom, just when she thinks she might have found the one… Just for a split second, Maddy disappears, and she finds that she’s living her own life. But ten years into the future. She’s only there for a little while. But each time, it’s long enough to know that she doesn’t want to be any of those future versions of Maddy. Because every man she falls for seems to lead her to a future that is just… wrong. Until she meets Oliver.

A bit ridiculous
Reviewed: 06-02-25
I liked her previous book so couldn’t wait to start this. The characters are brilliant and it’s really well narrated but I’m afraid I just found the whole concept ridiculous. Also there are so many holes in the story too. I’m sorry to say I wouldn’t recommend.

Marnie is stuck. Stuck working alone in her London flat, stuck battling the long afternoons and a life that increasingly feels like it's passing her by. Michael is coming undone. Reeling from his wife's departure, increasingly reclusive, taking himself on long, solitary walks across the moors and fells. When a persistent mutual friend and some very English weather conspire to bring them together, Marnie and Michael suddenly find themselves alone on the most epic of walks and on the precipice of a new friendship. But can it survive the journey?

Reviewed: 24-05-24
Another corker of a story by David Nichols. He always develops such captivating characters, they feel more like friends by the time you’ve finished the book. I never want his books to end which I think is the greatest sign of a five star read as you can get.

When the misanthropic Dr Miriam Price wakes up dead, her day has only just started to go wrong. With everyone mistakenly thinking she killed herself, she's condemned to half a century in Limbo as a 'Death By Misadventure' - unless she can prove that she was murdered. Unable to communicate with anyone living, Miriam's investigative options look decidedly limited.

Not my normal genre but was a fantastically light and funny change. Doesn’t take itself too seriously and you can’t help fall in love with it’s main characters. Just don’t overthink the subject of the afterlife aspect and enjoy it for what it is- a quirky funny human life story

Awful narrating, the voice she gives to a supposedly large, sporty chap is one of a weasel. Makes it really hard to visualise any of the characters. I don’t like to give up on books so soon but I’m done with this at chapter 3.
