Don’t be fooled by the title of this book because you will learn nothing. It’s a load of drivel, no substance no factual evidence. Recommend this as a sleep aid though as it’s a very boring load of nothingness !

its a great pity the author herself didn't narrate this book. Its such a heartfelt and raw subject and the narrator just wasn't up to the job of conveying the authors feelings and emotions. I found her too young and sickly sweet voice really grated on me, couldn't finish the book!

Horrific abuse story that I didn’t finish as some parts of the book didn’t add up for me.
I just couldn’t help feeling that some parts were fiction or a little embellished maybe due to the narrators way of speaking like she’s reading Red Riding Hood.

Gritty working class Glaswegian story.

Tenement life in the 70s.Captures the true hardship, humility, camaraderie and unique sense of humour of Glasgow women.
The plot was a bit weak but that didn’t matter as the characters were all so vibrant and true to life. Authors voice was a bit shouty but it’s authentic so it didn’t bother me. Great wee book if you get the Scottish working class sense of humour,

And that's exactly the way Cooper wants it, because he's got a lot to hide. Finch has been raised on the books filling the cabin’s shelves and the beautiful but brutal code of life in the wilderness. But she’s starting to push back against the sheltered life Cooper has created for her - and he’s still haunted by the painful truth of what it took to get them there.

Story
In medical charts, the term "N.A.D." (No Apparent Distress) is used for patients who appear stable. The phrase also aptly describes America's medical system when it comes to treating the underprivileged. Medical students learn on the bodies of the poor - and the poor suffer from their mistakes. Rachel Pearson confronted these harsh realities when she started medical school in Galveston, Texas.

She talks so fast and at times it’s comical almost like a robot.

Story
Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes - having meltdowns, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it's not good to do these things, but it can't help it sometimes - especially if it's obsessing about trauma it can't overcome. That's where this life-changing book comes in. With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what's going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately....

The author using the f word all the way through the book is unnecessary and I feel shes only using it to shock as a gimmick.
I am no prude, but I found it vile.
Also the narrators voice grated and it was made worse by the acoustics.

Story
Jean Swinney is a feature writer on a local paper, disappointed in love and - on the brink of 40 - living a limited existence with her truculent mother: a small life from which there is no likelihood of escape. When a young Swiss woman, Gretchen Tilbury, contacts the paper to claim that her daughter is the result of a virgin birth, it is down to Jean to discover whether she is a miracle or a fraud. But the more Jean investigates, the more her life becomes strangely (and not unpleasantly) intertwined with that of the Tilburys.

Terrible Narrator

I could only listen to 15 minutes of this book as the narrator was so awful. The first chapter she’s reading news headlines quickly in the style of a horse racing commentator, which was bad enough but she seems to not be able to produce enough air for the last word in each sentence.
I found the narration didn’t get much better, there’s a complete lack of feeling as she rushes through the chapter.
