The pacing was great. I enjoyed the biologists descriptions of the world around her. I could relate having spent many an hour looking into tidal pools or reeds. The flashbacks were good instruments for fleshing out her character and explained her interactions with her compatriots and world about her. Surprisingly different to the movie in a good way. The whole book has an ironic juxtaposition of the beauty of the area against the impending doom.

Stephenson's use of ye olde vernacular for humourous effect had me burst out loud laughing on multiple occasions.
A great dramatisation of the period with mystery, education, chases and seduction

Loved it. Pretty much being in the zone whichever route you choose sport, art, music, meditation or intoxication can unlock insights & respite but also lead to ruin, madness or death.
