Story
Ten years after the walk across Central Asia and Afghanistan that he memorialized in The Places in Between, Rory Stewart set out on a new journey, traversing a thousand miles between England and Scotland. Stewart was raised along the border of the two countries, the frontier taking on poignant significance in his understanding of what it means to be both Scottish and English, of his relationship with his father, who's lived on this land his whole life, and of his ties to the rich history and culture of the region.

Story
Look at a map of the world and you'll see a neat patchwork of nation-states. But this is not where power actually resides. From the 1990s onwards, globalization has shattered the map, leading to an explosion of new legal entities: tax havens, free ports, city-states, gated enclaves and special economic zones. These new spaces are freed from ordinary forms of regulation, taxation and mutual obligation—and with them, ultracapitalists believe that it is possible to escape the bonds of democratic government and oversight altogether.

Very interesting revealing the weakness of Capitalism
Reviewed: 31-05-23
I have always thought Capitalism is the most successful of all political systems and it even trumps religion in some aspect with worldwide followers. Money money & money….
This book however explained well Capitalism is beginning to some so cracks and badly needed some updates. If it doesn’t, it will starts to lose us influence or able to motivate people to do anything for more.
Interesting read and I would have enjoy reading it as much as listening to it. The narrative is very good too.
Highly recommended!

She should have been the First Lady President of America, and she would have been a good one! But because the lack of support of Obama Presidency by the Senate, especially the Republicans, I think some Americans were tired of the same things again if Hilary were elected, especially when Trump were assisted by Putin in the election.
I just dislike Campbell devotions to heroine a football fan to their idol footballer or a catholic to the Pope, Jo doubts as the result of his relationship with her husband and Blair, it put me off listening to it and totally enjoying it.

Lots of re-interpretations of words that define emotions
Reviewed: 19-04-23
Simply, the author introduces a lot of other words that define various emotions. But for me it is confusing and even annoying. Her diction in her speech I also find annoying, like a headteacher telling her naughty students off or a career wife with education insists on her rights when talking to her husband, wanting her opinions to be respected or validated, or else……! It is not for me, a bit too much like Harry and Meghan who might just have a bit too much therapies, and want to talk about it when no one really interested, because it is not that interesting?

Story
In 2011, an elite group of US Navy SEALS stormed an enclosure in the Pakistani city of Abbottabad and killed Osama bin Laden, the man the United States had begun chasing before the devastating attacks of 9/11. The news did much to boost President Obama’s first term and played a major part in his reelection victory of the following year. But much of the story of that night, as presented to the world, was incomplete, or a lie. The evidence of what actually went on remains hidden.

Dirty works in maintaining global domination!!
Reviewed: 17-03-23
We desperately needed this type of well researched and thorough analysis on the tactics used by the US regime in maintaining their global dominance, especially their positions in the Middle East and Asia. They have created enemies and victims along the way that eventually will comes back to them like the 9/11 attacks. They are creating terrorists along their ways which sadly most of their citizens in the US do not know. They should listen to this book and challenge their government whether they are doing the right thing for the country in the long run.
Great piece of honest journalism 👏

What a gripping real life story of a committed professional pathologist who devoted his professional life and passion to find out the true nature of death. How come these people don’t get pay more in what they do or respected for the nature of their work. It is gruesome in places but found myself wanting to get to the end to see what his findings were. Great pathologist and very interesting insight into some of the famous cases in history. Must listen to book!

Powerful finishing chapters
Reviewed: 27-01-23
I have to admit I was initially disappointed with the beginning chapters of the book. A description of a lost soul but with a sense of entitlement to happiness and thought he could find it by opting out and becoming a monk. With some courage and conviction I agreed, NM m.but not that different to lots of our younger generations these days in my opinion who had not truly experienced suffering yet with high and unrealistic expectations of happiness in life.
The final few chapters, however, moves me, and there were lessons that he had learned from being a monk that I think are valuable to all of us when facing hardship and the sufferings in our life that often we might have questions or an opinion on.
I highly recommend it. There is humour, but also valuable lessons on some of the most important ways of thinking about living our life and facing the end of it.
