Story
There wasn't one major reason that Kate Gunn decided to give up alcohol, more a few minor ones. She had an inkling that alcohol was holding her back from getting on top of her life. Plus the hangovers were getting worse. No longer just a dull headache throughout the day. At the worst times, entire weekends wiped out by one fun night she could hardly remember.

Story
Gazza's tears in the 1990 World Cup semi-final launched the boom of interest in football that continues to this day. Suddenly, Paul Gascoigne found himself the centre of attention in a way that only George Best and David Beckham have ever experienced. So much has been written about Gazza over the years, but he has said little - until now. For the first time, he talks in depth about the key events in his life.

Fab honest insight into a football legend, Gazza!
Reviewed: 22-11-22
Really enjoyed the story and career insights. The narrator's NE accent makes the story come to life. Loved the honesty of this book. Gazza in his own words, warts and all. A football legend who was genius and flawed in equal measures. It's a story of a real human being who happened to be the most gifted midfielder of his time, despite chronically poor mental health and life long addictions. Seems so cruel but as the great man says himself, he doesn't regret his life and his love of football has remained constant. He says "I lived my dreams but never fulfilled my potential".....so honest, true and insightful. God bless you Gazza! We love you!

Story
Sobering is the story of an insecure teenager turned Liverpudlian party girl, schoolteacher turned alcoholic and now recovering alcoholic turned award-winning podcaster. Melissa’s story is as dramatic as her unique voice, but her message is universal: mental health issues often drive vulnerable people to addiction, and working on mental health and personal development can help recovery.

Story
Laura Clery makes a living by sharing inappropriate comedy sketches with millions of strangers on the Internet. Now, in her first-ever book, Laura recounts how she went from being a dangerously impulsive, broke, unemployable, suicidal, cocaine-addicted narcissist, crippled by fear and hopping from one toxic romance to the next...to a more-happy-than-not, somewhat rational, meditating, vegan yogi with good credit, a great marriage, a fantastic career nand four unfortunate-looking rescue animals.

I recently discovered Laura on Facebook and then saw she had a book. I was so intrigued by this woman and her husband's authenticity and honesty about they're struggles with addiction I absolutely had to give it a listen. Much more constructive, helpful and enjoyable than I expected it to be. Will be reccomending as a lighter read / listen to friends in recovery circles. Great job Laura 🤘

Great book full of fab tips and advice for sober living. particularly helpful for frazzled, over stretched and under appreciated mums / women in general. My one main criticism is that the narration is awful. stunted, poor timed and hard to listen too. having said that don't let it put you off completely...there's a lot of great content in this book.

Not quite finished yet but thoroughly enjoying this book so far. Can barely stop listening and really feeling inspired to address my own issues with alcohol.
NB, now finished the book and would highly recommend it. I admire and appreciate the author's honesty so much and can only hope to be so brave and honest myself someday.

A marvellously written, spoken Audiobook. One of my favourite books ever! Can't recommend it enough whether you're desperately trying to get sober or just sober curious. Catherine Gray's book is an absolute triumph and something of a legend in sobriety (quit lit) reading lists. She just nails it in my opinion. Funny, moving and all too close to the bone at times - it really is a cracker! Get listening people and enjoy! You're welcome!

William Porter factually explains the effects of Alcohol so well. It can be a difficult listen at times - uncomfortable to hear the facts about our beloved alcohol but for me this book has been instrumental on my journey to remove alcohol from my life by seeing it for what it really is. Everyone should read this and then decide whether to continue drinking or not.
