I loved this and couldn't wait to listen when I had a moment. David Tennant's narration is superb and I believed all of his character's. Good, nostalgic escapism in true James Bond style.

Disappointing narration
Reviewed: 13-04-13
I got this book for my daughter, who is bi-lingual, but whose stronger language is English. She loves dragon and fantasy stories and although the content of this is good we have been disappointed in the narration which I think lacks flow and expression and feels a little rushed.

Story
Fresh from the country, Juanito is bewildered by his new school. Everything he does feels upside down: he eats lunch when it's recess and goes out to play when it's time for lunch, and his tongue feels like a rock when he tries to speak English. But a sensitive teacher and his loving family help Juanito find his voice through poetry, art, and music. Please note: This audiobook is in Spanish.

A simple and uplifting story
Reviewed: 13-04-13
Juan Felipe Herrera is the author and narrator and I find his stories simple and uplifting, as he speaks about a childhood with very few material posessions but a great deal of love. He reads expressively as if he were reliving the story, and reads at an unrushed pace which is pleasant to listen to and easy to follow for a spanidh learner. Good for bedtime listening as it is so positive and beautifully read.

Very beautifully read at a gentle pace
Reviewed: 13-04-13
Very beautifully read at a gentle pace, in both Spanish and then English, which is very good for young learners. Although my girl is 11, and we have been a couple of years in a spanish speaking country, she enjoys this to listen to to relax to. She's dyslexic and the switch to an unrushed audio is a break. This would suit much younger listeners too, and the dual language can be very helpful and isn't obtrusive.
