Not gripping or thrilling

This is not the most intriguing story that I have heard. I like the ones where they keep you guessing, but everything in this book was so obvious. I also thought it was a bit painful to listen to what was happening and just take it in all the suffering from some of the characters. The story itself was okay but I think the author went the wrong way about it, or it is just my personal preference. And some of events don't seem very plausable. Not my type of book. Not a gripping type of feeling from listening to this book. Narration was good.

Absolutely terrible. I couldn't even finish listening to it. I wasnt sure what was going on, couldn't stay focused because it is such a boring book. The characters are forgettable and couldn't connect to any one of them. The syle of writing doesn't help at all. Is a very childish and whiney type of book and characters. Dont waste your money, had to ask for a refund for the first time in 2 years of buying Audible books.

Celia, Juliette and Nadia are complete strangers with one thing in common: they have all been wronged by Ellis Cobain. A wealthy philanthropist on course for a knighthood, Ellis' public persona is bulletproof - but lurking beneath this veneer is a sinister side that only the women closest to him have seen. When they meet at a boutique hotel on the Cornish coast, brought together by the blind arrogance of their tormentor, they realise what connects them and form a pact: to blackmail him and free themselves from his grasp.

Amazing narration, really brought the characters to life and gave excitement to the story. Very intriguing plot and it was difficult to find out who the killer really was. I must say that I shead a tear in the end. Love Stephanie King and am looking forward to more books from this series. Rachel Abbott never disappoints.

Story
Ever since I met my handsome husband Dr Gabe Bonneville, I started playing the role of the perfect housewife. He works hard as a surgeon, so I look after our home, and throw elaborate dinner parties with champagne cocktails for his best friends Hugh and Anita. He’s my safe place and my chance to have the family I’ve always wanted. I’ve managed to hide the mornings when I wake up and see a face in the shadows. I haven’t told Gabe the truth about the woman who raised me, or told him about the therapy I’ve been getting so my secrets stay hidden in the dark.

Story
Our new home was meant to be a chance for us to start again; to make new friends and forget the past. And as I look around the barbeque we’ve thrown for our neighbors, I dare to dream that things will be all right. I watch my husband joking as he flips burgers and my daughter turning cartwheels on our sun-bleached lawn. And then my gaze falls on my son, Jacob, and his new girlfriend, Rose, in her light blue jeans and her green crop top. There is a worried expression clouding her beautiful eyes.... The next day I get a call from Rose’s mother that chills me to the bone.
