Story
What transforms this audiobook from written word to effective daily practices are the 10 guideposts to wholehearted living. The guideposts not only help us understand the practices that will allow us to change our lives and families, they also walk us through the unattainable and sabotaging expectations that get in the way.

Dancing with her daughter
Reviewed: 01-03-24
I had to restart the book as I thought I'd missed something and wasn't getting it, as at the beginning Brene seemed to be talking about Racism. However, going through I realised its not specifically for that.
I want to be a wholehearted person, I like the difference between shame and guilt. So pleased she danced in the store with her daughter. That would be my dad😍. The other people are the ones who are wrong not to enjoy. I've marked several points to discuss with my friends, and I hope I have enough courage to be vulnerable. Thank you for sharing your story and helping me realise that I'm happy being a square peg in a round hole 🕳 😀

Story
While the world seems to be in love with the idea of tiny houses and minimalism, many of us simply can't purge it all and start from nothing. Yet a home with too much stuff is difficult to maintain, so where do we begin? Add in paralyzing emotional attachments and constant life challenges, and it can feel almost impossible to make real decluttering progress.

The simplicity of the container, no complicated method or process. Teaching children how to use it so they don't have too much. I wish my parents had used this with me, and my dad definitely needed this process. Visibility made me do what I haven't actually found time for! There is clear space on front of our wardrobes!!

Story
Ross Edgley famously ran a marathon pulling a 1.4-tonne car and climbed a rope the height of Everest (8,848 m), after living with Yamabushi warrior monks in Japan and partaking in Shamanic pain rituals with fire ants in the Amazon jungle. On his epic 1,780-mile journey around Great Britain, which lasted 157 days, Ross swam through giant jellyfish, arctic storms, ‘haunted 17 whirlpools and polluted shipping lanes, going so hard, and so fast, his tongue fell apart.

Amazing

This book was recommended, I'm so glad. Ross's telling of his tale was pleasant to listen to and engaging. I don't want to swim around Great Britain, I'm not a great swimmer and definitely wouldn't want the jellyfish! Yet I found his matter of fact recanting absorbing. No matter what happens Stoicism seems to have stood the test of swim. Thank you Ross for sharing your journey, I might go read Marcus's book now.

There's nothing the British love quite as much as their dogs. From hunting to our hearths, and from herding sheep to guiding humans, our dogs have accompanied us through centuries of change, and that special relationship is still evolving today. So, just what is it that makes our bond so special? In this fascinating adventure across Britain, Clare Balding explores our unique heritage of canine tradition and meets just some of the many people who live, work and innovate with their dogs.
