LOVE THIS SERIES

This entry is excellent, cannot wait for the next one. My only complaint is that it isn’t out sooner. Such great narration and character development. I think the progression and lack of relying on tropes like character misunderstandings etc is such a smart move and helps it feel fresh. Really excited for the next release.

I cannot wait for the next instalment. I love this series, I had to read the previous book to remind me of the plot but it was well worth the wait. By far one of my favourite series. It’s so detailed and the pacing is excellent. The narration is also brilliant, kudos.

Story
Hump and his companions return to Sheercliff City to find a region plagued by monsters—bad news for most, but for a hedge wizard, it's just good business. With the gorger dead and the bond with his unhatched dragon growing quickly, Hump looked forward to some ordinary adventures. Yet trouble finds him as the Inquisition arrives, accusing him of his master's murder. It seems there is more to the old man's death than he believed.

I absolutely loved this series, by far one of my favourite fantasy series. It's well-written, innovative and utterly addictive. The relationships and progression makes total sense and is heartwarming. I cannot recommend it more highly and only ask the author to make the 4th book available on audible.

Story
Legends speak of wizards with the power to rival Gods. To Hump, it’s just a story. Apprenticed to a wandering wizard, he grew up on the road, following the coin on whatever quest it took them. He always believed his master was just an ordinary hedge wizard, until the old man suddenly died, and his book of spells bound to Hump’s soul. Knowing no other life, Hump takes up his master’s staff and heads out alone into a world of dungeons and monsters. So begins the path of The Wanderer. The White Flame. The Hedge Wizard.

It's an incredible first entry that gets better and better with each book. it's well written, reasonable and well paced. It has great characters, relationships and doesn't fall into the pitfalls of other fantasy series. No sexist characters, no bad writing and no contrived plot points- I cannot recommend more highly.

This series is honestly so great. I see some negative reviews and I think maybe those readers need to stick to shorter series. I love the detail and depth of DOTF. It’s honestly unsurpassed in the thought and detail put it. I love being taken on the epic journey and have no wish to rush to the end. I cannot wait for 13 and many more!

A product of the latest technologies, Barliona is a virtual world brimming with fun and entertainment. The government has become the guarantor for the in-game currency, allowing its free circulation. As a result the population floods Barliona in pursuit of easy money. It doesn't take long for the game developers to discover a source of free labor: real-world prison convicts. While their bodies are locked in special auto-maintenance virtual capsules, the prisoners' minds are released into Barliona's virtual mines.

An incel's wet dream
Reviewed: 29-03-24
I enjoyed the first one but realised in the second book that the kinship and respect afforded to the MC's friends is only afforded to them if they're men. The female characters make odd/ childish decisions and the MC seems to really enjoy holding power over 'Stacy', when in actuality there's no reason he would have that power in the first place. In the third book it gets worse and there's the clanger of "I started to think of her not as a girl but as a person worthy of respect" when talking about an almost 30 year old woman and one of the top players in the game.
The disappointing thing is the first instalment proved that the writer/ translator was able to craft compelling relationships but it just doesn't extend to women.
Unless you're an incel, I would drop it here.

Story
Felix's life on Earth had become a series of dead-end jobs, ruined relationships, and rotating apartments smaller than most postage stamps. By all accounts, even his own, he was a coward. Too afraid to move forward, to take risks. Yet when given the chance to choose between risking his life or walking away from a deadly encounter, he didn't hesitate. Moments before his untimely demise, Felix was snatched from earth and thrust into a magical world known only as "The Continent". Empowered by the "System", he learns that he can strengthen himself through combat and dedication.

It’s so hard to keep the story and development consistent in a long series and this series has exceeded my expectations. I thoroughly enjoyed it and absolutely cannot wait for the next. I just wished it was out already, which is hardly a negative grievance.
