Story
Beckett: If you’re reading this, well, you know the last-letter drill. You made it. I didn’t. Get off the guilt train, because I know if there was any chance you could have saved me, you would have. I need one thing from you: get out of the army and get to Telluride. My little sister Ella’s raising the twins alone. She’s too independent and won’t accept help easily, but she has lost our grandmother, our parents, and now me. It’s too much for anyone to endure. And here’s the kicker: there’s something else you don’t know that’s tearing her family apart.

Story
He’s my best friend’s older brother. He was also my teenage crush, and completely out of reach. But we had our secrets—moments that nobody knew about. I’d tucked them away in a safe place, and that’s where I’d planned to keep them. He’d moved to the city, and I’d moved on. But now he was back in Honey Mountain for a few weeks and he’d found endless reasons to spend time with me. What started out as rekindling our friendship turned into a different kind of…stroking the fire. No pun intended. It was temporary. Just another secret that we’d keep between us.

A sweet love story
Reviewed: 03-02-24
It was a nice, easy listen like the previous books in the series. I’m invested in the characters but I do wish there was a little something extra in LP’s stories. The narration was good but it really highlighted the amount of unnecessary F-bombs written into the story. I have the mouth of a sailor but there are so many in LP’s books that they feel forced. As though they’re trying to add some spice? I’m not sure. Just a pet peeve, I guess.

Story
Arwen Valondale never expected to be the brave one, offering her life to save her brother's. Now she's been taken prisoner by the most dangerous kingdom on the continent, and made to use her rare magical abilities to heal the soldiers of the vicious Onyx King. Arwen knows better than to face the ancient, wicked woods that surround the castle on her own, which means working with a fellow prisoner might be her only path to freedom. Unfortunately, he's as infuriating as he is cunning-and seems to take twisted pleasure in playing on Arwen's deepest fears.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. It was easy to listen to and was a great foundation for the rest of the series.
I would’ve liked to have had a duet narration rather than the majority being done by the female narrator and Joe Arden coming in at the end.

Noah Slade is a Formula 1 legend in the making. Focused. Unapproachable. Ruthless on and off the track. A man with walls higher than the Grand Canyon. And my brother's new teammate. I want more of the prince who disguises himself as the villain. But while I crave a happy ending, he wants to destroy his. Maya Alatorre is a forbidden temptation. An ambitious post-grad I should stay far away from. And chaos wrapped with a bow. We're a ticking time bomb, about one wrong move away from exploding. I want to trip the wire, detonating together in passion and pain.

I wanted to enjoy this book as I keep seeing the series on IG. Unfortunately, the female narrator was a chore to listen to. She didn’t speak in a normal rhythm, it was choppy and stilted a lot of the time.
I made it to chapter 12 and not a great deal happened beyond flirting and lingering looks that bookended crashes and press conferences. It’s entirely possible that the story picks up if you can stand the narration.

Story
A new town. A new identity. Pregnant and alone. And far away from a past that can never find me. River Wild. Moody. Sullen. Jerk. And my new neighbor. I have no interest in befriending River. And he definitely doesn’t want to be befriended by me. Then, he helps me rescue an abandoned dog. And that day, I see something in his eyes that reflects back in my own. Sadness. Pain. Loneliness. I know all of those things well. An unwanted and unexpected friendship that somehow works. Then, without warning, it turns into something more.

I was hoping for more suspense and drama. There’s hardly any. The female lead got on my nerves whenever she condescended to River. It was emasculating and infantilising. This story could’ve been so good but it was as if the author couldn’t be bothered.

I'd spent my entire life loving my best friend's older brother. Every single one of my birthday wishes was spent hoping Cade would finally notice me. And then, one day, he did. But not all love stories have happy endings. It's been years since I left the small town of Sutten Mountain devastated and heartbroken. I'd used the pain to fuel a bestselling novel that solidified I'd never have to return. Until tragedy struck, forcing me to face the man who shattered my heart.

It was okay. A second chance romance with great narration. I was disappointed that not much actually happened, though. It was just an endless back and forth between two people who loved each other but we’re both hurting. One thing I really disliked was the sex scenes. They made me cringe because they tried too hard. It was cheesy soft porn. I don’t think I’ll bother with the second book which is a shame because I liked Pippa.

Just weird…
Reviewed: 17-10-23
I had been excited about this book having really enjoyed the rest of the series. Unfortunately, Elsie Silver really missed the mark for me on this one. I couldn’t relate to Bailey at all. I’m not a fan of the virgin trope anyway but this just had me cringing throughout. Age gap romances don’t usually bother me but the constant mentions of Bailey’s young age and Beau’s protectiveness over her just made me think of a father-daughter relationship which was just wrong on so many levels in my head when combined with their odd sexual encounters. Some of the things Bailey said to Beau were just plain bizarre rather than funny or endearing. I felt that the lack of contact with the rest of the Eatons left a big hole in the story too. Like, where was Harvey? Virtually nonexistent. The whole book just made me feel icky and weirded out. Gutted that a great series ended like that.

My name is Adelaide Edington, and my life was mapped out for me before I even entered the world: who I'd date, where I’d attend college, what I'd be when I grew up. But there comes a time in everyone's life when they face a fork in the road. Should I go left, or should I go right? It didn't matter as long as I didn't remain stagnant any longer. Jett Stone opened me up to a whole new world, reminding me that it was okay to find my own way. I could have roots in Willow Springs and still spread my wings and fly. What I didn't expect was to fall in love with the broody football player.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t finish this book. For some reason, I didn’t realise that it was about high school kids. The writing was great, as was the storyline as far as I listened but at 40 y.o. it wasn’t for me. I think I failed to read the blurb properly because Laura Pavlov’s books are so often put with other authors who write small town romances for adults eg Devney Perry and Catherine Cowles. Will do a bit of research to find out if Ms. Pavlov’s books will appeal.

This definitely seems to be a love it or hate it kind of book judging by the reviews.
I really wanted to love it but it was just too slow and dry. Not enough suspense or pace to really have me on the edge of my seat. There was an awful lot of introspection from the main character and at times, I forgot that this is actually a murder mystery. I stuck with it because I did care enough to know who the killer was but the overall execution of the story left me feeling like I can’t be bothered listening to the next book.
