Story
From the Orange Prize-winning, internationally best-selling author of The Song of Achilles comes the powerful story of the mythological witch Circe, inspired by Homer's Odyssey. In the house of Helios, god of the sun and mightiest of the Titans, a daughter is born. But Circe has neither the look nor the voice of divinity and is scorned and rejected by her kin. Increasingly isolated, she turns to mortals for companionship, leading her to discover a power forbidden to the gods: witchcraft.

Beautiful Book

I really enjoyed this story, I was skeptical at first but with each new chapter I found myself longing to hear more. It is beautifully narrated, heartwarming yet inspiring to a witch. I am that. The story is told with such beauty you can picture everything in your mind. It has love, war, betrayal, God's and Goddesses along with other deities. Monsters and witches too what more could you want in a book.

Story
When Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm published their Children's and Household Tales in 1812, followed by a second volume in 1815, they had no idea that such stories as "Rapunzel", "Hansel and Gretel", and "Cinderella" would become the most celebrated in the world. Yet few people today are familiar with the majority of tales from the two early volumes, since in the next four decades the Grimms would publish six other editions, each extensively revised in content and style.

A fascination with the history and life of the Norse is growing. Movies and television series about their way of life have surged in popularity. What makes it so fascinating is not the stories in themselves, although some are truly a feast to the eyes, but how they came to be and what they mean for the people that live by them.

I did not stop listening from start to finish, I'm not afraid of death but have always wondered to myself what are they like, when they get bodies what do they actually do, this was really something quite special to listen to. They are real people just like us after all. Narrative was brilliant and delivery precise.

Loved these stories ❄17
Reviewed: 24-03-21
Although I've always loved tales like this and have heard many from grandma to me now being 38, these I thoroughly enjoyed for their difference not just by words but opinions too, love anything that tells of free woman and empowerment for them as we have shunned and silenced quite enough, why should not now shout and display ourselves for all we are worth. Very good narrative, easy to understand and follow, not too long but just right for an enjoyable collection.

The lineage continues, though new generations struggle not only to master their power, but also to keep it hidden.
