really enjoyed this sequel - very satisfactory ending too! Excellent narration, a rollercoaster of asking myself 'whats real and not real?)

l enjoyed this and was totally engrossed..the combination of apocalyptic fiction and how a future humanity might evolve (devolve?) was thought provoking to say the least. But the ending was hugely unsatisfactory imho - it's begging for a sequel. Without the possibility of a sequel then it's all a bit bleak - but maybe that's the whole point?

Outstanding in it's twists and turns as I expected, binge listened as always and hoping that the author hasn't run out of ideas for this nightmare world of the near future that feels so 'present' .

l had to give up listening. The story was original and ok although all the characters were unlikeable. The narrator is excellent at accents and has a good voice but the continuous swallowing noises were a distraction and highly irritating

l guessed the ending quite early on which clouded the enjoyment of listening tbh. A good book but not as good as l had hoped

l felt sad giving up on this book because the premise was potentially excellent. Narrator 'ok' but lacking expression... constant repetition of the phrase 'the baby ' drove me to distraction and I didn't care for the frequent references to sore nipples, for goodness sake , that's NOT relevant!!!

Gripping, intelligent and just too close to how the world is going for comfort. Another hell-scape of our own making brought to life by John Marrs, what's more it's a world that we seem to be ever eager to embrace. Not me - l'm off to smash up Alexa forthwith, drive my retro campervan to the outer Hebrides and live in a hut!! Fantastic ending which I didn't see coming, which just goes to show how easy it is to believe the narrative and kind of proved the point of the whole book. John Marrs the next Nostradamus? l really really hope not!

First book l have listened to by this author and absolutely gripping. The main protagonist is absolutely terrible - and the horrible twists and turns (while being unbelievable if this wasn't fiction) come fast and frequently. Fantastic

First time I have ever come across this author - this book deserves to be more well known, it's a really excellent thriller and has just about the best double plot twist at the end l have heard in ages. The narration is excellent throughout. Definitely recommend if you want something a bit different from the usual domestic thriller

l loved this book, It's about a mountain but actually is a book with great depth too!. l would have liked more description of the environment but the story has an allegorical aspect so it wasn't so important that it ruined the story. Faultless narration, perfect for the story
