Story
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Great 'read'

Scientifically dense yet tirelessly entertaining

The detail to which Weir commits himself in writing this novel is in itself an praiseworthy accomplishment. Managing to hold the everyday reader's attention amidst all the scientific and mechanical specifics takes a special kind of skill. All seems to rest on the humor and optimism of the lead character. And he doesn't disappoint.
R. C. Bray doesn't miss a beat and performs the characters tastefully.
A 5 star read all round.

Thrilling story, brilliantly narrated

A thoroughly entertaining story with excellent narration. I didn't want it to end. Each chapter was different from the one before. The plot moves swiftly and the characters are dynamic and personable. John Silver comes to life in Buck's narration.

Story
Few people had a more profound effect on Christianity in the 20th century than G. K. Chesterton. The Everlasting Man, written in response to an anti-Christian history of humans penned by H.G. Wells, is considered Chesterton’s masterpiece. In it, he explains Christ’s place in history, asserting that the Christian myth carries more weight than other mythologies for one simple reason—it is the truth.

I've always enjoyed Chesterton's poetic genius and his bird's eye view perspective on just about everything he puts his mind to. The Everlasting Man is certainly one of his masterpieces. Not only that, it is incredibly relevant for the current modern way the world is going.
