Of course, my brother went and got himself hurt on this last deployment. I don't know what I expect at the hospital but I don't expect Noah, the man who saved my brother's life. I don't expect him to also save me . . . or that I will have to save him.

Three things you should know.
Grab a bucket.
You will never want to hear a certain nickname again
And no one is that perfect!
Other than that treat it for what it is but I for one won’t be interested in listening to another.

Was doing ok-ish until a well known character from previous novels appeared. For some strange reason his accent had changed! No longer from the East End but vaguely Yorkshire way. In fact the different accents the narrator attempts are poor and off putting.
Lots of padding out and hard to believe MR wrote this. Sorry to say given up. A shame because I love his other work.

If your easily offended by a big aggressive, drunk, sweary Scotsman going around beating 8 sorts of you know what out of people, don’t bother.
If you want a cracking tale, sad at times but often very funny, twisty, turney and a great narrator? Dive straight in and enjoy!

Beautifully narrated without that annoying trend to imitate a male voice or attempt a regional accent.
Great story with some interesting twists and will look out for more of this author’s work and this narrator.

The male narrator wasn’t the best and men trying to do female voices always grates on me but, being from the West Country myself, I was pleased the Channel Island police officer wasn’t turned into a stereotypical bumbling plod!
Enjoyed the story and will read more from this author.

Story
It all happens so quickly. One day you're living the dream, commuting to work by riverbus with your charismatic neighbour Kit in the seat beside you. The next, Kit hasn't turned up for the boat and his wife, Melia, has reported him missing. When you get off at your stop, the police are waiting. Another passenger saw you and Kit arguing on the boat home the night before, and the police say that you had a reason to want him dead. You protest. You and Kit are friends - ask Melia, she'll vouch for you.

Started a little slow and I wasn’t riveted for a while but there is a reward for sticking with the story.
Twists I certainly did not see coming ( and I’m usually not bad at working them out ) I don’t want to give anything away but the ending could of been predictable. It’s not!
Enjoy!

Wow!
Excellent story, not overly complicated or ridiculously unbelievable. Not too many twists and turns, a little bit of dark humour and characters you can relate to .
And what an absolutely incredible narrator ! What a talent. This is good but made great by this lady.
Never given 5*s before so must be impressed. Enjoy!

A good listen but not riveted!
Would still recommend it though as the narrator has a nice voice. She doesn’t over complicate things by trying to do different voices either!
Some good little twists and turns too but without giving things away, I couldn’t dislike the victim! I didn’t dislike any of the characters to be honest! Found the ending a bit ‘Meh!’
