Story
In Immunity to Change, authors Robert Kegan and Lisa Laskow Lahey show how our individual beliefs - along with the collective mindsets in our organizations - combine to create a natural but powerful immunity to change. By revealing how this mechanism holds us back, Kegan and Lahey give us the keys to unlock our potential and finally move forward. And by pinpointing and uprooting our own immunities to change, we can bring our organizations forward with us.

Excruciating slow

It seems perversely deliberate that the author has set out to make this book as long as possible, while simultaneously giving very little of value. This could easily be condensed into an essay, probably a rather good one … but no … a long book it must be.

As long as she can remember, Maria Konnikova has been fascinated by the tension between luck and skill. Loved this book. Great format and a very compelling story line. Really expanded on the characters and tied it all together at the end, with how the learnings relate to real life

We all need more energy, the vitality that helps us stay motivated, focused and productive in life. We know we receive energy from good nutrition, along with working out, adequate sleep and maintaining positivity. But there is another major source for the energy we need: having the right kinds of relationships with others. Not the ones that drain us, but the ones that refuel us.

Way too many references to the Bible, which I found incredibly distracting. Also found the premise of the book very fluffy and high level. Ultimately, there is very little here that I could translate to the real world. I hope others find this more useful than I did.

What a scam - so disappointed seeing these pop up on Audible. They should be banned
Watch out for other titles by this fictitious author as there are several on audible

I knew very little about MOB and BOB ... really, despite liking them when in the office. What an amazing, honest story about hope, grit, sacrifice and service. I highly recommend and hope this book is read far and wide. It did lose me a little in the latter parts as, quite honestly the causes that MOB champions have little overlap with who I am, but everything ties together at the end exceptionally well. What a joy to listen to this, and in the authors, authentic voice.

Hard to say when the human species fractured exactly. Harder to say when this new talent arrived. But Lion Zorn is the first of his kind—an empathy tracker, an emotional soothsayer, with a felt sense for the future of the we. In simpler terms, he can spot cultural shifts and trends before they happen. It’s a useful skill for a certain kind of company.

Something doesn't quite work - from the very beginning, the writing style, the over-use of tech gadgetry, the predictable villain profile, the machine-gun narrative, the alpha male silliness. Sorry, not for me ... maybe I ventured too far off my my normal path and others will love this story.

Artificial Intelligence helps choose what books you buy, what movies you see, and even who you date. It puts the "smart" in your smartphone and soon it will drive your car. It makes most of the trades on Wall Street, and controls vital energy, water, and transportation infrastructure. But Artificial Intelligence can also threaten our existence. In as little as a decade, AI could match and then surpass human intelligence. Corporations and government agencies are pouring billions into achieving AI’s Holy Grail - human-level intelligence.

What would have made Our Final Invention better?
There are no facts or figures in this book. It is, instead, an emotional rant with no substance. The narrator is possibly one of the worst I have heard on audible
Would you ever listen to anything by James Barrat again?
No
Would you be willing to try another one of Gary Dana’s performances?
No
You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?
None,
Any additional comments?

Story
In his bravest and most challenging book yet, Seth Godin shows how we can thrive in an economy that rewards art, not compliance. He explains why true innovators focus on trust, remarkability, leadership, and stories that spread. And he makes a passionate argument for why you should be treating your work as art. Art is not a gene or a specific talent. It's an attitude, available to anyone who has a vision that others don't, and the guts to do something about it.

What did you like most about Homo Deus?
The book builds to a crescendo, but spoiler alert, the crescendo it actually a tsunami. I agree with everything here and I wish I did not. This is a very important, yet sobering view of our immediate future. I literally couldn't function for several days after finishing this book. YNH is a genius and Derek Perkins in quite astonishingly word perfect (except for Mi-Hi Chick-Sent-Mi-Hi) :-)
What other book might you compare Homo Deus to, and why?
No comparison but I had to reread 'The Obstacle is the Way' by Ryan Holiday just so I could get out of bed
Have you listened to any of Derek Perkins’s other performances? How does this one compare?
Not sure - he is brilliant
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
YES
