Story
By the time Sara Davies left university, she was running a business with a half-million-pound turnover from her student bedroom. When she became the youngest of BBC 1's iconic Dragons, that turnover was £25 million. Today, she is one of Britain's biggest business names. Now, in a memoir as full of warmth, wit and wisdom as she is, Sara shares what it took to get there - from manning factories overnight with her mam and dad to hitting the trade shows of Las Vegas alone, armed with little more than ambition and a passion for crafts. What does she look for in a business investment?

A good listen

I picked this as I didn’t know what else to use my credit on. I was gripped after the first 10 minutes and found it both interesting and inspiring. Sara comes across as a hard working, role model. I hope to start a business one day and if I ever pitch to the dragons, I would hope to capture her attention.

Story
So, I’ve written a book. This certainly doesn’t mean that I’m quitting my day job, but it does give me a place to shed a little light on what it’s like to be a kid from Springfield, Virginia, walking through life while living out the crazy dreams I had as young musician. From hitting the road with Scream at 18 years old, to my time in Nirvana and the Foo Fighters, jamming with Iggy Pop or playing at the Academy Awards or dancing with AC/DC and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, drumming for Tom Petty or meeting Sir Paul McCartney at Royal Albert Hall....

I enjoyed listening to this very much. Dave talks so fondly about his friend, band mate and legend Taylor Hawkins, so it’s terribly sad to hear of his passing. Thoughts are with Dave and the Foo Fighters.

Story
The strange tale of a boy named Flea starts in Rye, NY. It was all very normal. But soon his parents divorced and his mother Patricia remarried a jazz musician. Flea's stepfather frequently invited musicians to his house for jam sessions which sparked Flea's interest in music. The family moved to Los Angeles, where Flea became fascinated with the trumpet, idolising musicians like Miles, Dizzy, and Louis....

Engaging and extraordinary
Reviewed: 28-05-20
After reading Anthony’s book it was great to hear Flea’s. I really hope that Anthony writes a book 2 and perhaps Flea will too in time to come. These people have extraordinary lives and it so interesting to have an insight. Some of the stories crossed over with Anthony’s, but I was glad there weren’t too many of those and I found out so much more.

Story
As lead singer and songwriter for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Anthony Kiedis has lived life on the razor's edge. Much has been written about him, but until now we've only had his songs as clues to his experience from the inside. In Scar Tissue, Kiedis proves himself to be as compelling a memoirist as he is a lyricist, giving us a searingly honest account of the life from which his music has evolved.
