Normally I love the Horowitz work but this one hit a weird chord with me and didn't feel quite right. His brother really annoyed me with his stupidity and a couple of times the situations were daring and amazing. It was still a fun read but the twist didn't work as well for me as I hoped. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it picks up.

Another 13 levels and things are not quite right in the world. Gill has dissapeared, Andy and Terry have some birthday difficulties and Vegetables are abound. It is chaos. Enjoyable chaos, yet some of the things were crazy. Vegetables are manic and evil but if you don't eat them they will get out of control.

An amazing second installment. I loved how much Cal grew and the chaos that reigns around. It really developed the characters at the same time whilst they are growing even more into the people that they can be. Some of the monsters are just soo cute and yet deadly which is an amazing combination. I love the interaction between Cal and Danni it really makes the book pop. I could not put this down. Am really looking forward to the next set of calamities.

Andy and Terry's amazing treehouse has 13 new levels! They've added a chocolate waterfall you can swim in, a volcano for toasting marshmallows, a bulldozer-battling level, a baby-dinosaur-petting zoo, a not-very-merry merry-go-round, a boxing elephant called the Trunkinator, an X-ray room, a disco with a light-up dance floor, the world's scariest roller coaster and a top-secret 39th level which hasn't even been finished yet! But what good is all this stuff when Andy and Terry are trying to write their fastest book ever?

Not one of my favourite books but hillariously understandable consiquences. A book of travelling and a special new machine to help them out and instead you can only guess at what happens next. A fun book for the kids but if you get the trick you may get a little bored.

Story
Concerned that technology is about to chase mythological creatures out into the open (how long can Sasquatch stay hidden from Google maps?), the League for Interspecies Cooperation is sending Jillian to Louisiana on a fact-finding mission. While the League hopes to hold on to secrecy for a little bit longer, they're preparing for the worst in terms of human reactions. They need a plan, so they look to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where humans and supernatural residents have been living in harmony for generations.

Well that was different, I enjoy Molly Harper's books, she takes a different view of the supernatural side of things. It was an entertaining look into the lives of lesser known shifters as well as a rather entertaining love story. Mystic Bayou has a special property that seems to attract shifters and also have the best intergration of humans and mystics. It is an amazing place that needs studying, finding a way to progress. They make a cute couple despite the politics. I can't wait to see how the series grows.

Humans are evil
Reviewed: 29-03-19
Sometimes the cruelty of humans and their blindness to the real twisted horror of the world is shocking. I read this as I wanted to learn more about it. I heard nothing about it where I live and the fact that people try and bury this, hide the full horror worries me. We are not perfect and never will be but the cruelty of the cartels and the depth of their corruption saddens me. A must read if you can stomach it. Can be a little slow at times.

Story
For eons, conquering dungeons has been the most efficient way to become a strong adventurer. Although not everything is as straightforward as it seems. Several questions have always plagued the minds of those who enter these mythical places of power: why are there so many monsters? Where do the amazing weaponry and heavy gold coins come from? Why does the very air fill with life-giving energies? Cal has all of the answers to these age-old questions, for a very simple reason. He is a Dungeon Heart.

I could not put this book down! It was so full of descriptions that brought the images clearly to mind, a growth and magic system that made sense, a new concept and view on gaming dungeons from the view of the dungeon. I fell in love with this series and just can't wait to see how it grows. Danni and Cal are wonderful and the battles as well as the mechanisms just make so much sense to me. I introduced my other half to the series shortly after and am currently rereading them with him.
