It all started when infected bats bit a small group of humans and created what are now called vampires. Then, the male vampires knocked up some female humans, and the result was a gorgeous race of all male ash - superhuman freaks that had looks to kill. Charlie is the first female ash, aka unicorn of the Hive - the gated compound in Portland that the humans have designated to isolate vampires and ash from society.

This read very much like a knock off Hunger Games with vampires. Most of the characters were pretty much just stereotypes, and the main character suffers from "I'm not like other girls" syndrome.

I found this very interesting. When this happened, I was quite young and didn't hear about it, and looking back I always wondered how these schemes worked, and if they were the same as pyramid schemes. Well, now I know.

The truth is still out there. The iconic hit that had millions searching for UFOs back in the 90s is now an exhilarating audio event, only from Audible. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reunite as FBI Special Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, joining an ensemble of original cast members in an out-of-this-world production.

2022 52 Book Challenge - March Mini Challenge - 2) A Circle On The Cover
This was a pretty poor audio drama. The writing was weak and subpar, like the writer was writing an episode for the show and forgot that he was actually writing an audio drama and it would be a non visual form of media.
The standout narrator for me was Mitch Pileggi, and I don't know if he was honestly the best (because Gillian Anderson was also good) or just that I really liked him on Stargate Atlantis and every time I heard his voice, I thought about that show instead.
Aside from them, the rest of the narration felt very flat. If I had ever been in a room with a first read through of a script, this is exactly how I feel it would be. Maybe I've just been spoiled by how excited Paul McGann seems to be every time he does a Doctor Who audio, but I was expecting some level of emotion in this, and it didn't feel like there was any.

Story
They were known as the Mitford sisters: Nancy, Pamela, Diana, Unity, Jessica and Deborah. Born into country-house privilege in the early years of the 20th century, they became prominent as 'bright young things' in the high society of interwar London. Then, as the shadows crept over 1930s Europe, the stark - and very public - differences in their outlooks came to symbolize the political polarities of a dangerous decade.

It isn't the best biography of the Mitford sisters that I've ever read, but it isn't the worst either. I did get distracted quite a bit by the time jumps the author used, and it was clearly evident that the author was biased towards some of the sisters.

Titan is the first full-length biography based on unrestricted access to Rockefeller’s exceptionally rich trove of papers. A landmark publication full of startling revelations, the book indelibly alters our image of this most enigmatic capitalist. Born the son of a flamboyant, bigamous snake-oil salesman and a pious, straitlaced mother, Rockefeller rose from rustic origins to become the world’s richest man by creating America’s most powerful and feared monopoly, Standard Oil. Branded "the Octopus" by legions of muckrakers, the trust refined and marketed nearly 90 percent of the oil produced in America.

Celeste portrays every character in a small Jersey Shore town as they unravel the story of Leonard Pelkey, a tenaciously optimistic and flamboyant 14-year-old boy who has gone missing. A luminous force of nature whose magic is only truly felt once he is gone, Leonard becomes an unexpected inspiration as the town’s citizens question how they live, who they love, and what they leave behind.

The performance of this audio was absolutely incredible. The writer really has a knack for voices.
That being said, the plot isn't fantastic as a book. I can see it working on stage, because the message is clear, and heart felt, but over audiobook, it really doesn't pull you in.
