A nice simple story woven around a life that was coming to an end and all the lives that are involved on the way.
I found the narrator difficult to listen to but when I got used to her, the voice seemed to fit the story somehow! Don’t be put off…..it’s a good story!

When Misty was six years old, her family started to live and dress like the Amish. Misty and her sister were kept as slaves on a mountain ranch where they were subjected to almost complete isolation, sexual abuse, and extreme physical violence. When Misty reached her teens, her parents feared she and her sister would escape and took them to an Amish community where they were adopted and became baptized members. Misty was devastated to once again find herself in a world of fear, animal cruelty, and sexual abuse.

Honesty and Courage
Reviewed: 11-11-24
This book is a very powerful true story told in a way that makes it absolutely gripping. It is harrowing and many times it is difficult to listen to because it is so honest and the majority of us do not want to hear such pain and anguish in the lives of children and vulnerable adults.
Misty Griffin should be awarded an award for ‘ Woman of Courage’ she has risked so much in the fight not only for her own freedom but for that of many others.
I am left asking one question. Why are the Hamish still called a church when they are so obviously a cult?

Story
Hello to you, I am with news. I have a new book: I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You. I know – what an intriguing title! Basically, I have had an unexpectedly difficult decade – there have been surprising joys but also deep revelations and challenging lows. I shall be honest about those, because what I discovered in the difficult times were my, what I call, treasures.

Life Changing Honesty
Reviewed: 02-11-24
This book will be life changing for many people who live with energy diminishing conditions such as M.E.
This wholly different and ‘real’ Miranda is very exciting! I felt I related to her at so many levels and she made me laugh and cry and shout ‘Yes!’ over and over again! I want others who sufferM.E as I do, to listen or read this book and I want all my family, friends and acquaintances to read it so that they will maybe understand what I have been trying to tell them for years! I intend to buy a hard copy so that I can use it as my reference book! Thank you Miranda!

Story
Meet the Padvano girls. Best friends and sisters, they are thought of as inseparable by everyone in their close-knit Chicago neighbourhood. Julia, the eldest, is the "rocket" of the family - she always has a destination in mind and clear plans for how to get there. Sylvie, the dreamer, is happiest with her nose in a book and imagines a life for herself other than the expected path of wife and mother. Cecelia and Emmeline, the twins, are the artist and the caregiver. From childhood, the four sisters complete each other, expecting that their family will always be intact.

I loved it all. The story of lives interwoven over the passage of time. The story of Sisterhood and family with it’s light and shade……So many things that resonated with me and my life relationships, I wanted to remember to help and affirm my own journey!
I thought the narrator had just the right voice / voices for the story and the characters.

I am so pleased I have discovered this excellent author! This was yet another outstandingly brilliant story written and performed wonderfully! At times it was so heart rending and extremely moving I could hardly bear to listen, but knowing that although fiction the happenings described did happen and people were unbelievably brave, I felt I needed to hear ‘ their stories’ It made me realise with gratitude that my troubles and struggles are minuscule and I need to stop complaining and look around me at what good I may do!!

Story
Female fiend? Femme fatale? Or weak and unwilling victim? Around the true story of one of the most enigmatic and notorious women of the 1840s, Margaret Atwood has created an extraordinarily potent tale of sexuality, cruelty and mystery. Sixteen years have passed since teenaged Grace was locked up for the cold-blooded murder of her employer, Thomas Kinnear, and his lover, Nancy Montgomery. Saved from the gallows where her alleged accomplice was hanged, Grace claims to have no memory of the events which changed her life forever.

There were many parts of this story that kept me listening but others that I found tediously boring and unnecessary in the whole context, such as the dreams and fantasies the Dr was having of his landlady and his ultimate relationship sexual with her!

I love the way this author describes people and scenes in a way that draws the listener in. The characters are real whilst being completely unbelievable in the adventures they go through! I felt as if I was watching an epic drama that drew me into the world of the characters and let me escape from the world I inhabit, which is what fiction should do!! I have ordered both this author’s other books so that I can stay in her wonderfully exciting world!!

Another brilliant story from Philippa Gregory and Bianco Amato deserves praise too for her excellent performance!
It was a ‘can’t put it down’ story and my only complaint is that it didn’t go on longer!! I would have liked an epilogue to let me hear what happened to the other main characters in the story, but it’s good for my imagination to create my own ‘ending’ beyond the very exciting climax where Philippa left us!!
Keep writing long stories please Ms Gregory!!

This is the 3rd of Bryce Courtney’s books I have listened to and I will be choosing more! His writing is poetry in pro’s and the narration is perfect!
The story is interesting from the start and has a wonderful array of different characters throughout. The story is of great historical significance and I learned a part of Australian history I had never been sure of before. I am so sorry this book has now ended, it will take some following!
