Loved the story, which takes you on many twists and turns. Unusually, for this type of book, the narrator is male. He did a very creditable job, until the story moved to Scotland. Ou4 poor narrator couldn’t get to grips with a Scottish accent and so headed due south to Merseyside and channelled his inner Ringo Starb instead….for both male and female characters 🤪. It didn’t spoil the story but that’s why he only got a 4 for performance. Recommended.

This is the second in a fabulous, blackly comedic series of murder mysteries. The cast of characters is wonderfully creative... including a transvestite romance author; handsome dwarf bookseller and an elderly motorcycle riding lady assassin. It's superbly read by Jonathan Keeble. Highly recommended.

I adore the books of Mary Balogh and this one is no exception. The story weaves its way through young love;misunderstandings; separation and joyous rediscovery. All set against a well researched and wonderfully drawn depiction of the Napoleonic wars. A beautiful story. Highly recommended.

This book is a blast. A sleepy little village, missing persons, elderly detectives, transvestitism and murder...and that's just the tip of the iceberg. It's brilliantly narrated by Jonathan Keeble too, so what's not to love. Highly recommended!

Not the sort of book I’d usually go for but having read a wonderful review in The Times, I thought I’d give it a try. It’s the most unusual, unexpected, and simply wonderful bit of writing I’ve read in a long while. Although it’s set on the International Space Station it’s not a sci-fi story. I am not clever enough to do it justice in this review but it’s a story that will stay with me for a long time. It’s beautifully written, extremely well researched and thought provoking. Highly recommended.

Anne Gracie is an exceptionally good writer and this story is wonderful. However, it was completely ruined by the most inept and frankly bizarre narration. I was determined to finish the book because the story was so good but my goodness, it was painful. I cannot believe the publisher allowed this audiobook to be produced. If you can, get this book on kindle or in paperback…don’t subject yourself to this version.

What's not to love about a story with so many layers, so many twists and turns and a character called Joey the toe! The narration is superb. Just fabulous. Highly recommended.

Claire Kingsley is such a clever writer. The fabulously narrated story, weaves a very well plotted thriller around a beautiful romance. I don’t want to give to much away but you won’t guess who the murderer is! Highly recommended.!

What a delightful story! I love the detail and the craft Mary Balogh employs with her stories. She really brings the early 19th century to life, without letting it stifle the story. I loved the characters in this book, they’re definitely people I could be friends with. There is also an appearance by characters from The Bedwyn Saga. What’s not to love. Highly recommended.
