Story
Who is Audrey Hoedemaker? It's a question her sister Maureen has heard more times than she can count, and she doesn't know what the short answer would be. Little sister, troubled teen, backpacker, musical theatre coach, con artist, childcare worker. Murderer. A tragic, traumatic childhood casts a long shadow on the Hoedemaker sisters. Maureen has worked hard to move beyond the violence of the past and build a good, honest life for herself. Audrey, however, just can't seem to do the same, careening from one state of chaos to another.

why take us through two books delving into the life of these women just to kill them off. I seemed a lazy conclusion and spoiled the book for me. I don't think I will bother with book 3.

Good story

The story was good but the stridently accented Scottish accent was too much for me. I found it the opposite to restful.
I had heard the previous book in the series and loved it but Polly's voice got on my nerves then and Beth yelling half the time was just too much.

The story and narration were excellent. I loved the inclusion of familiar characters and surprised myself how much I enjoyed a non-crime based novel by one of my favourite authors.

Story
Gary Thorn is struggling with a big decision. Should he stay in London, wallowing in the safety of his legal job in Peckham and eating pies with his next door neighbour, Grace and her dog Lassoo, or should he move to Brighton, where his girlfriend Emily is about to open The Hotel Avocado? Either way, he’d be letting someone down. But sinister forces are gathering in a cloud of launderette scented-vape smoke, and the arrival of the mysterious Mr Sequence puts Gary in an even worse predicament: soon he might be dead.

Another first class book from the Master. The story grabbed me from the begining and never flagged once. An excellent narration right through to the cliff hanger ending. I am so happy that, at the age of 84, Mr. Archer's writing ability just gets better. Hurry up with the next one. I, for one, can't wait.

Maeve Binchy at her very best - the superb novel of one summer, and four people whose lives are irrevocably changed. Four strangers, with nothing in common but a need to escape, meet in a Greek taverna high above the small village of Aghia Anna. From Ireland, America, Germany and England they have each left behind their homes and their old lives, when a shocking tragedy throws them unexpectedly together. The author has set up the characters and background fo this new series so well. I am looking forward to the next one almost as much as the next 'Thursday murder club ' . Thanks for the gift of your writing Richard. You make a lot of people very happy 😊 xxx
