Story
In early summer 1982 - winter in the South Atlantic - Argentina's military junta invades the Falklands. Within days, a Royal Navy Task Force is assembled and dispatched. This is the story of D Squadron, 22 SAS, commanded by Cedric Delves. The relentless tempo of events defies belief. Raging seas, inhospitable glaciers, hurricane-force winds, helicopter crashes, raids behind enemy lines - the Squadron prevailed against them all, but the cost was high.

Very well written history of SF in the Falklands
Reviewed: 12-07-21
I enjoyed the book very much however i was irritated by the constant reading of the initials of abbreviations. As a person who worked in the defence industry for over 40 years I know that all the acronyms are treated a nouns and verbs not a sting of letters. The first part of the book makes this clear with a look up table of what the string of letters mean if you really want to know.
This however did not spoil the book which kept me enthralled and in awe of the risks taken by the SF in theit day to day work..

In 1984, at the age of 20, Duff McKagan left his native Seattle - partly to pursue music, but mainly to get away from a host of heroin overdoses then-decimating his closest group of friends in the local punk scene. In LA only a few weeks and still living in his car, he answered a want ad for a bass player placed by someone who identified himself only as "Slash." Soon after, the most dangerous band in the world was born. Guns N' Roses went on to sell more than 100 million albums worldwide.

Excelent insight to a rock stars life
Reviewed: 17-01-20
I obviously knew of Gun n Roses but this was a great insight into the rise and fall of a super group. I was surprised to find how educated he was and his description of how he turned his life around was enlightening.
I recommend anyone with and wish to become a "Rock Star" to read this book to see the possible pitfalls that happen when a very young adult gets a large amount of spending power.

If you could travel back in time, the period from 1660 to 1700 would make one of the most exciting destinations in history. It's the age of Samuel Pepys and the Great Fire of London, bawdy comedy and the libertine court of Charles II, Christopher Wren in architecture, Henry Purcell in music and Isaac Newton in science. In The Time Traveller's Guide to Restoration Britain, Ian Mortimer answers the crucial questions that a prospective traveller to 17th-century Britain would ask.

Nearly a billion people are dead--and those the Atlantis Plague doesn't kill, it transforms at the genetic level. A few rapidly evolve. The remainder devolve. As the world slips into chaos, radical solutions emerge. Industrialized nations offer a miracle drug, Orchid, which they mass produce and distribute to refugee camps around the world. Would you listen to The Atlantis Plague again? Why?
It took me a long time to get through this needing to read a few other books in between as it can get very drawn out in the middle not seeming to go anywhere just round in circles but at about 3/4 through the story picks up and comes to a conclusion
What did you like best about this story?
Its the second book in the trilogy and moved the story along
Which character – as performed by Stephen Bel Davies – was your favourite?
Al the characters were good and consitant
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No
Any additional comments?
the book is part of a trilogy this is just and excuse for procrastinator I am sure the whole story could have been condensed a bit and I will think twice before downloading the third episode.

Story
One Summer: America, 1927, is the new book by Britain’s favourite writer of narrative nonfiction, Bill Bryson. Narrated by the man himself, One Summer takes you to the summer when America came of age, took centre stage, and changed the world forever. In the summer of 1927, America had a booming stock market, a president who worked just four hours a day, a semi-crazed sculptor with a plan to carve four giant heads into a mountain called Rushmore, a devastating flood of the Mississippi, a sensational murder trial, and a youthful aviator named Charles Lindbergh who started the summer wholly unknown, and finished it as the most famous man on Earth.

Space is a world devoid of the things we need to live and thrive: air, gravity, hot showers, fresh produce, privacy, beer. Space exploration is in some ways an exploration of what it means to be human. How much can a person give up? How much weirdness can they take? What happens to you when you can’t walk for a year? Have sex? Smell flowers? What happens if you vomit in your helmet during a space walk? Is it possible for the human body to survive a bailout at 17,000 miles per hour?

Bomber is the story of the final mission of RAF Lancaster bomber WF183, call sign O, Orange, which took place one night in 1943. It is also the story of the many men and women, British and German, whose lives were irrevocably changed by that night's bombing raid. Starring Tom Baker, Frank Windsor, Samuel West, Emma Chambers, and Jack Shepherd, Bomber is a brilliant production.

Listened to it in 24 hours. although I knew the story the actors brought it to life and really made it seem real. Very thought provoking. I recommend it to anyone interested in the air war
