Spurred into action by Amazon Prime!

Although for me this is no Lee Child ‘Jack Reacher’, as a first book I think I have to let that go.

Jack Carr has written a superb action filled book exploring the revenge James Reece needs to reap as he returns from a mission that didn’t go to plan.

There are a few details with specific acronyms that definitely went over my head. I think he should have maybe just written them in full the first time.

A decent, fast paced thriller that I would recommend. I am now looking forward to seeing what Amazon Prime have done with it as a series!

I am a big fan of Elle Marr having stumbled across her last year. This is the third of her books I have read and it didn’t disappoint.

Ivy is adopted and goes in search of her biological family because she finds out she is related to a serial killer. If it was me I would have stayed well clear with that knowledge but anyway…

This is a great thriller that keeps you thinking. I would definitely recommend.

I absolutely loved this book. One of the best books I have read in the last couple of years.

Having studied and taught Of Mice and Men I was extremely interested to see the link and synergy between the two books. I also went into reading Ugly Dogs Don’t Cry with a slightly cynical mindset.

In short, the story of Kyle and Sideeq - supported by Swank and Danny - and their West London surroundings had me captivated from the start.

This is a superb read and I applaud the bravery and skill of DD Armstrong to take the American Dream of the 1930s and give it a modern British narrative.

I would highly recommend.

I completely appreciate that this book was written in the 1930s however for me there were huge sections that were just boring.

The premise is excellent and the foresight and future thinking was amazing from Huxley. His dystopian world is believable for the most part. For that he should be commended and my review lifted.

Sadly just like technology, I feel that writing has also moved forward. I found large parts of this story uninteresting.

I felt that I needed to read this but I would not recommend.

Day 7. It feels like years! I have still enjoyed the struggles of Dave and Howie as they try and track down Darren and his hordes of Zombies.

It is definitely hard to think how there are twenty odd books but at the moment it is worth carrying on!

I very much enjoy the way Katherine Rundell writes. We were given some of her books and others for our Year 7 pupils. I like to read some of the books we put in front of them to see if they are any good!

The Good Thieves did not disappoint. The lighthearted and for a lot - humorous - writing, keeps the book entertaining as a group of young ‘good’ thieves try and take back what is rightfully theirs.

Vita is a great protagonist and brings her crew together well.

This is well worth a read. Not just if you are a Year 7 at school!

An insightful book on the internal and external workings of one of the most well known psychiatric prisons.

I wanted to read this book having spent 6 years of my life living in Crowthorne and hearing the dreaded Monday morning siren. When it didn’t go off on a Monday morning you were filled with an air of fear and excitement.

I would recommend but only for people with knowledge or an interest in the organisation.

The Amityville Horror has had so many mixed reviews. I think I can see why? The murders were most certainly true from research but what happened after fills people with the desire to debate.

Is the supernatural true etc…

True or not, actually this is written as a decent ghost story and if it didn’t come with the non-fiction tag, it could be enjoyed as such.

You would need to like this genre to recommend, otherwise stay away!

There are so many washed up old classics that children have to endure through school nowadays. I am an English teacher and would love this to be on a school book list.

The systemic racism that is so prevalent throughout all society - not just in this case America - needs to be addressed.

Jerome in the story is an innocent young black boy who gets shot by a white police officer. The boy looked big and scary apparently…

Emmett Till is a part of the story as well. It was great to hear part of that story and I feel it gives an understanding as to this isn’t just a ‘now’ issue.

For me this is a must read for young and old.

Johann Hari is a great writer and his research into the world of drugs has paid off again here.
Should drugs be legalised? Would the world then become full of drug crazed lunatics?
A sensible look at why and how drugs should be looked at and the legal ramifications behind legalising or the decriminalisation of them.
Well worth picking up.
