Story
In Monte Guano, a ridiculously small and penniless principality in Renaissance Italy, Prince Ludovico II finds his rule constantly undermined by those around him: his shrewd wife, his official mistress and his three disappointing—if not outright humiliating—sons. As well as having to manage the ever-increasing tributes demanded by the Pope, Prince Ludovico must also contend with feeble conscripts in search of war booty, getting on the pilgrim map, fake currency, religious battles and worst of all, English tourists.

Did it take the Jimmy Edards classic as a template
Reviewed: 28-04-23
Did it take the Jimmy Edwards classic as a template. I don't know. Jimmys was brilliant. This is better.....the scripts are so well written and the interpretation by the actors is excellent. Surely there must be a follow up.....it was obviously and deliberately 'left in the air'.

Story
TV’s first ecclesiastical comedy, All Gas and Gaiters was enjoyed by more than 10 million viewers on BBC One between 1966 and 1971. Written by husband-and-wife-team Pauline Devaney and Edwin Apps, it was so popular that a selection of scripts were revised and re-recorded for radio with the same star cast as the television series. Robertson Hare starred as the archdeacon of the fictional St Ogg’s Cathedral.

Snappy scripting well performed. Good old fashioned humour. I felt part of the goings on.

Story
When it comes to truly finding out who you are and what makes you tick, there is one thing that needs no online subscription to a cloud-based server with a password you keep forgetting. That, my friend, is a shed. Your shed is your refuge. It's the place where you go when you need a break from this mad, crazy world. Once you're inside the four walls of your shed, you can do whatever you like. You're the king in there.

Henry could rant for England. His Royally Majestic discourse will inspire potential sheddwellers. Great listen.

war from the point of view of a private soldier
Reviewed: 10-01-18
Most war histories are written by high ranking officers. This perspective by Sir Terence Milligan is a refreshing departure by a low ranker. - yes, I said ranker. Would Spike have envisaged his Knighthood at the time - he would surely have been the butt of many a joke had his comrades in arms foreseen it.
