A balanced and positive look at ADHD

My therapist recommended another book on ADHD. It was factually informative but it was all doom and gloom and left me feeling quite negative. This book covered a lot of the same ground but being written by someone with an ADHD brain gave it MUCH better balance. I also loved the delivery.

I remember so many of the cultural milestones mentioned throughout the book, and it was also about so much more than just grime. I can identify with having my club night shut down by the police in the late organising stages over unfounded security "concerns".

Compiles a lot of useful wisdom for new runners, especially those of us who don't think we look like runners. How to get started, and how to keep going.

Reinforces the idea that running is for everyone, combining a friendly, empowering tone with relatable personal anecdotes. I already thought that a big body wasn't a barrier to running. This book made me believe it.

This book was everything I needed to read.

It reinforced the ideas I've been having and actions I've taken towards leaving some very toxic relationships behind.

I had a feeling that it was the book I wanted, but it turned out to be the book I needed.

A friend shared her Guardian article on European attitudes to African innovation and I immediately came to see whether Agua had written any books.

I downloaded this and literally couldn't stop it. I listened to it in a day. Afua gives a really interesting snapshot of race and identity in the UK from a place of relative black privilege. There are some things we already know but the appeal is in the way Afua articulates things that we struggle to put into words.

It's an interesting listen that you can pass on to your friends who enjoy white privilege, so they can understand it without you doing any more of the legwork.
