So many little moments of absolute delights, some scary, some gasps, lots of great world building.
Great cast of characters, fabulous imagery. A really well written story taking us on a massive journey and keeping us guessing all the way.
Got to say some of my favourite lead characters. Now I need more.

This was an included with audible title, had some good reviews so what’s not to like? Except it’s way better than that. It’s really good. The narrator was great, really got the delivery spot on (although voice for little brother wasn’t the best) but the others were fabulous.

I loved understanding the background of the characters, with zero lecturing, just lived experience. Lots of humour, lots of pathos, and the main character is a charm. Although, sheesh, talk about under appreciated! But the whole story was enjoyable and memorable. I’ll definitely be reading more from the author.

The most irritating male voice

I listened because I needed to know what happened, but the male narrator sounded constipated. His female voices were uncomfortable at best. I never wanted him to be British, because the accents are never great but omg it was super distracting.
Won’t actually be getting the next book as this one needed serious editing. There were some great moments and revelations but some parts dragged on. I almost wanted the cliffs notes. I may look up what happens as I’d like to know the conclusion. Favourite character: Riva

Seriously ready to burn the academy to the ground. Don’t know whether to read the next to get some answers or just let it go as I hate so many of the characters. The twins though, I like them. They have attitude and spirit.

Enjoyed all the characters even when they weren’t doing exactly what we expected- but had to laugh at Agatha who I’m pretty sure arrived from 1930s England (what was THAT all about?!) with her speech patterns, old time phrases and Julie Andrews (via The Sound of Music) behaviour. I did cringe quite a bit at that but still enjoyed it overall.

Firstly, I adore the narrators. They work so well together, really bring a story to life and feel genuine. Great voices, great emotion.

Then bring in a story which has fun, flirty moments and they’re perfect. But they also have the sadness, bumps and emotions covered too.

This story has all of those things, but the lead roles in this are people I’d like to know, the side characters have depth and the whole thing makes for a memorable and heartwarming story.

Mariana Zapata is so good at dialogue, relationships and humour while telling a great story with a few twists and turns. Callie Dalton is made to read Mariana’s characters. It’s a perfect combination. I adored both Lenny and Jonah, Grandpa Gus - all the supporting cast are really well rounded and loveable. It’s a lovely book, satisfying in so many ways. I think it’s my 3rd or 4th reread so about time I left a review!

I love the combination of Callie Dalton and Mariana Zapata… add in Gomez Pugh for Rip and it’s amazing.

It’s a beautiful slow burn, although I don’t have Luna’s past, I could relate to her repeating mantras to keep herself from slipping into sad memories. She’s a force of nature in the gentlest and sincerest way.

I relisten to MZ’s book frequently, her dialogue is natural, her writing flows and it’s easy to get lost in her world. Off to relisten to another now. Bliss.

Hate it when a book stops abruptly to make you buy the next. I’d have bought this if it hadn’t ended virtually mid-sentence. Grrrrr. It’s a good start, good characters but I won’t be held to ransom, much like the characters!
