Potential but disappointing.

the voices and accents are absolutely awful, like something from 1980's children's TV. The story was good but the main character is just way too unbelievable, which may be done to the narration as much as anything. Made it about halfway through but had to abandon as I was getting increasingly frustrated with it.

interesting story, but went downhill

for 80% of this I was intrigued, slightly hooked. Yes, at times I wondered if it was written by a teenager with no life experience, but there were enough twists and turns to keep me invested. Then, suddenly it descended into absolute nonsense. Major life incidents and key life events were completely forgotten and life went back to normal, only for characters to suddenly remember stuff six months later. I gave up with two hours left and deleted the book from my library. So much promise but didn't deliver.

Disillusioned with corporate London life and with no previous experience as a long-distance cyclist, Anna decides to clamber atop a beautiful pink bicycle (named Boudica) and set out on an 11,000-mile journey on her own, through each and every state of the USA. Dodging floods, blizzards and electrical storms, she pedals side by side with mustangs of the Wild West, through towering redwood forests, past the snow-capped peaks of the Rocky Mountains and on to the volcanos of Hawaii.

it's a truly inspiring story, and very well written. slightly spoiled by the narration, which was trying too hard on the comedy side, and falling short. Overrall a good book.

Story
Exclusive to Audible! Listen to a discussion between the author and the narrator of The Widow at the end of this recording. We've all seen him: the man - the monster - staring from the front page of every newspaper, accused of a terrible crime. But what about her: the woman who grips his arm on the courtroom stairs - the wife who stands by him? Jean Taylor's life was blissfully ordinary. Nice house, nice husband. Glen was all she'd ever wanted: her Prince Charming.

Story
Gareth Thomas had it all. He was a national hero, a sporting icon. He was a leader of men, captain of Wales and the British Lions. To him, rugby was an expression of cultural identity, a sacred code. It was no mere ball game. It gave him everything, except the freedom to be himself. This is the story of a man with a secret that was slowly killing him. Something that might devastate not only his own life but the lives of his wife, family, friends and teammates.
