Story
In Morning After the Revolution, Bowles gives listeners a front-row seat to the absurd drama of a political movement gone mad. With irreverent accounts of attending a multi-day course on 'The Toxic Trends of Whiteness,' following the social justice activists who run 'Abolitionist Entertainment, LLC,' and trying to please the New York Times's 'disinformation czar,' she deftly exposes the more comic excesses of a movement that went from a sideshow to the very centre of Western life.

Funny, inciteful and quite sad
Reviewed: 03-06-24
I loved the very warm, personal, first-person point of view. Nellie writes with a lot of wit and humanity. The depictions are mostly of personal recollections. That she came/is from the left means these lessons might reach a broader audience and her perspective - of feeling completely let down by your own side might be the book's most important quality. At the end I'd hoped for some ideas to be tied up more satisfyingly. It ends a little whimsically, but I enjoyed and learned from the book.

Story
When Marco Pierre White's mother died when he was just six years old, it transformed his life. Soon his father was urging him to earn his own keep, and by 16 he was working in his first restaurant. White went on to learn from some of the best chefs in the country, such as Albert Roux, Raymond Blanc and Pierre Koffmann. He survived the intense pressure of hundred-hour weeks in the heat of the kitchen, developed his own style and then struck out on his own.

Best narration I've heard - and it's some book too

The book wasn't exactly what I was expecting. If you're looking for a simple introduction to 1980s pop and rock music this is a decent place to start. But it's not for the squeamish. However, I must reiterate how incredible the narration and direction is. Truly outstanding.

Story
Philosophy begins with questions about the nature of reality and how we should live. These were the concerns of Socrates, who spent his days in the ancient Athenian marketplace asking awkward questions, disconcerting the people he met by showing them how little they genuinely understood. This engaging book introduces the great thinkers in Western philosophy and explores their most compelling ideas about the world and how best to live in it.

A superb, entertaining introduction to some fascinating ideas. The narration was warm and clear and at a perfect pace. However I must say that the occasional 'impersonations' of the philosophers were a bit embarrassing. Overall it was fantastic.
