Stopped listening
Reviewed: 13-08-24
I read the book at launch. Decided to download and listen as it was a while since its launch. Sadly after 5 chapters I stopped listening. The narrator is a good narrator but in my opinion. Totally unsuited to this book. Appeared to struggle on accents and consistency. On the right book I am sure would be excellent but to me on this a fish out of water

Story
From the outside, Glenfarach looks like a quaint, sleepy village, nestled in the heart of Cairngorms National Park, but things aren't what they seem. The place is thick with security cameras, and there's a strict nine o'clock curfew, because Glenfarach is the last safe haven for people who've served their sentences but can't be safely released into the general population. For Detective Constable Edward Reekie, this was supposed to be a simple delivery job—drive his new boss up to HMP Grampian and collect Marky Bishop, take him to Glenfarach, then head back home again.

To his many thousands of fans, ex-SAS officer Ben Hope stands tall as a hero, a warrior, a protector of the innocent, a defender of those in need, relentless in his pursuit of those who exploit or do evil to others. But Ben Hope is also a man with flaws and weaknesses that we can all recognise all too well. That’s what makes Ben Hope not only one of the best-liked thriller heroes of modern fiction, but the one that readers say they feel they know as though he were a real, living person and more than a character on a page.
