NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE directed by Denis Villeneuve, starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Stellan Skarsgård, and Charlotte Rampling
Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Muad'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family—and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.
A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction. Frank Herbert's death in 1986 was a tragic loss, yet the astounding legacy of his visionary fiction will live forever.

truly beautiful sci-fi
loved the story but found the performance disjointed. in some chapters the narrator performed all characters and in others there were separate voice actors. very inconsistent and annoying

A timeless classic read well
I have read this book in paperback form, watched the tv series and the rather flawed movie but was anxious to try out the audiobook and see how it compared. Well it is by far the best way to experience Frank Herberts Dune. The voices are fantastic and fit the characters very well as does the narrator. I loved this book have read, watched and listened to this book many times and can honestly say it stands the test of time. If you like epic scifi then you will love this.

Brilliant
Brilliant story and great recording. This is one of the best downloads I have had from Audible. What a pity I can only give it 5 stars!

Enjoyable But Flawed
I've been meaning to read Dune for a long time but the size of the book was always a bit intimidating so I decided to try this out instead. I'm glad I did. I enjoyed the story a great deal, even though it can be a little slow and confusing in places and I may not have managed to finish if I was just reading it myself.
The performance is incredibly good but I'm knocking a star off because sometimes there are voice actors for the characters and sometimes there is just the one narrator doing all the voices. It didn't bother me that much but I can see it bothering someome else.
Overall I enjoyed it a great deal but I can see how it might not be for everyone.

Hello my old friend
I've not read the book for 40+ years so to be able to relive the story of Paul Muad'dip whilst being able to go about my daily business thanks to Audible was a no brainer. That being said I would find myself pausing, reminiscing and sitting listening and remembering passages and memories from my teens.
After a breather I may continue on with the, now, extensive series but first a rest from this world as I know what awaits.

Excellent story, spoiled slightly by voice acting changes
I found this an excellent story overall. I did however find the change from what seemed audio play to standard audio book quite jarring, especially when it led to a variance in character voices. This did spoil it slightly overall for me though I did enjoy it immensely.

Narration is confusing
Narration of all characters is mostly one person but for parts of the book it switches to actors so I got confused who was who initially. End of book was spoiled when a really irritating posh English kid started narrating the lead character.

Astounding
Just superb. The narrator and voice actors are excellent, though more lines were delivered by the narrator than I expected. The book is, well, Dune. I had forgotten just how good it is.

About Dune.
The greatest sci-fi story ever told; nothing comes close to this, I find it hard to believe anyone will write anything of it's like again.

Great book let down by some questionable voices
This is a great book. While the narrator is good some of the other voice acting is unintentionally hilarious. Especially the voices of the fremen which sound borderline racist and some of the female characters sound like a man trying to impersonate a woman. Most of the principle cast are great though especially Paul Artriedes and Gurney Halack. It's incredible how old it is and yet it feels timeless. Its slow to get started but once it does it's very gripping. I listened to it twice through I liked it so much.
