About this listen

Felix Ever After meets Becky Albertalli in this swoon-worthy, heartfelt rom-com about how a transgender teen鈥檚 first love challenges his ideas about perfect relationships.

Noah Ramirez thinks he鈥檚 an expert on romance. He has to be for his popular blog, the Meet Cute Diary, a collection of trans happily ever afters. There鈥檚 just one problem - all the stories are fake. What started as the fantasies of a trans boy afraid to step out of the closet has grown into a beacon of hope for trans listeners across the globe.

When a troll exposes the blog as fiction, Noah鈥檚 world unravels. The only way to save the Diary is to convince everyone that the stories are true, but he doesn鈥檛 have any proof. Then Drew walks into Noah鈥檚 life, and the pieces fall into place: Drew is willing to fake-date Noah to save the Diary. But when Noah鈥檚 feelings grow beyond their staged romance, he realizes that dating in real life isn鈥檛 quite the same as finding love on the page.

In this charming novel by Emery Lee, Noah will have to choose between following his own rules for love or discovering that the most romantic endings are the ones that go off script.

This audio edition is read by Logan Rozos of David Makes Man.

Cute

Really enjoyed the LGBTQIA+ storyline. The main character, Noah, first came across as really self centred & shallow but began to grow a long with the story. Definitely worth a listen if you enjoy a simple romantic story.

Brilliant

This is a brilliant, heart-warming romance book that is beyond perfect for trans and queer readers. it's heartfelt, honest and so sweet because Noah is a brilliant character which undergoes so much growth. This has given me hope for trans love and sure the book could use a little more setting and depth but the story is powerful and that's all you need sometimes. highly recommended.

THIS BOOK NEEDS WAY MORE RECOGNITION!

When I read this book I was just expecting a cute love story between a trans guy and another guy, but omg is it way more then that! It’s so cute on one hand and it is one of the only books I’ve ever read that uses pronouns as well as this book, one of the characters switches their pronouns and it’s not just he, they and she but also others like ey and xe, as well as talking about pronouns it also talks about gender, the main character being a trans guy and the fact that some people are completely clueless about their gender and feel different to others about how they feel their gender is. Another thing the book talks about is romance, from the perspective of someone who has never been in more then one relationship in his life (that one relationship being when we was unsure about if he was trans, and also being a complete bust) he has know clue how romance works, but he thinks he’s the best at it, which is really cool to see as most romance books the mains either completely clueless about romance and knows that or is super good at romance and knows that. I love this book, I love its aesthetics and how is plays out modern day (or modern when it was released) characters. I love the cluelessness the main character faces and also the stopping points, how he follows a code that is incorrect in so many levels, and also it’s diversity in the Lgbtq+ community, how it’s not just about sexuality but also gender. As well as that the performance of the reader is amazing, it’s exactly what I pictured the mains voice to be, he reads it very well. If your interested in reading it please do, it’s is one of the best books I’ve ever read, I relate to the main character so much and I love that in a book, PLEASE read this, it is so worth it!

Vapid and Strange

As someone who is trans I really wanted to like this story. but. the non existent character writing, unlikeable lead and vapid storyline really brought it down. I believe that the main character was meant to be written as "sassy" but he comes across genuinely nasty, rude, obnoxious, self centered and stright up mean.

it's fine to have an unlikeable protagonist, some of the best story's do that very thing, the difference is this clearly wasn't intentional.

the performance from an audio book perspective is really good, strong characterisation and vocal work overall.

extremely disappointed.
