About this listen

Sharpe’s Tiger is the brilliant beginning of Sharpe’s adventures

India, 1799

The citadel of Seringapatam is under siege. Navigating this dangerous kingdom of bejewelled palaces and poverty, Private Richard Sharpe embarks on a rescue mission to save a senior officer from the clutches of the Tippoo of Mysore – and oust the Sultan from his throne.

The fortress of Mysore is considered impregnable, but one of the greatest threats comes from betrayal within the British ranks. And the man to outwit enemies from both sides is Sharpe . . .

Enjoyable soldiering story in period of East India Company

Very well performed, although a lot of details about battles and army life, performance pace and variety kept my interest

brilliant story, brilliantly read

The narrator is excellent, with characterisation that reflects the people well. Hakeswell is still evil, Sharpe is a cold blooded killer with a heart of gold and India is full of colour .

Excellent

I knew I liked the books before downloading the audio version.
I was hopeful the audio books would be well read and not let the books down. I have not been disappointed, the books are excellently read and a pleasure to listen to.

Fantastic story, brilliant performance

This was fantastically good fun from beginning to end! I enjoyed the story a lot - well-structured and satisfying, with some pretty gripping set-pieces. Characters are interesting and pretty well-rounded, and the details about the 1799 siege of Seringapatam felt very immersive. Farley has done a magnificent job of performing this, and one of the best narrators at doing the different voices effectively that I’ve heard (alongside say Simon Vance)
