It’s the year 2000, and while Bunny McGarry is theoretically on sabbatical from the police, he just can’t help sticking his nose in where it doesn’t belong. Rosie Flint is an old acquaintance of Bunny’s whose boyfriend mysteriously disappears off the face of the Earth. What starts out as a simple missing person’s case soon gets a whole lot more complicated when it emerges that the boyfriend is not who he claimed to be, and there are some rather sinister people showing an unhealthy interest in Rosie.

Bunny McGarry is the best series I have ever come across, and as if the story is not good enough, the narration is sublime.

Enthralling

Spending my childhood driving around South Africa with my parents who are avid bird enthusiasts, gave me what I thought was a good foundational knowledge of birds. Not so. Boy did I learn a lot from this book, and had to repeatedly pause and call my dad to tell him these incredible facts I was learning. What a wonderful book, and an unparalleled narration.

Truly terrible narration

I seriously struggled to get through this, and the only reason I did is because this can be streamed free and the rest of the series is read by another narrator. Highly recommend sipping this and reading it yourself. Painful narrator. All the women sound ridiculous and all the men sound the same and monotonous. Hard pass.

Terrible narration of a great series

Even if you love this series, I beg you, do not listen to this audiobook. There is a large amount of spicy scenes in this book, which are also quite graphic and they could literally not have picked a worse narrator. Want to listen to 20+ hours of weird heavy breathing/odd dramatic exclamations? Then this is for you. Otherwise, avoid!!

A surprising let down

I am a big fan of both the actors and the Outlander show (and books) yet I was pretty thoroughly disappointed by this audiobook which was even more of a shame because the narrators were great. But the content was way too heavily weighed down by Outlander references, which were just boring and out of place, and made the whole show seem like some weird kind of extended advert/in between the scenes show. It really wrecked the continuity of the stories and made the book dull. And Grahams constant references to and jokes about Jamie‘s rape in the series was quite odd and off-putting. Wish I had given this a miss.
