I am still reeling from this book. Everything about it has burrowed itself in my flesh and I feel it will live there for a long time to come. It was a book that I would say “I loved to endure.” Kate’s writing made feelings palpable, the sentiments she expresses through various characters blew my mind and made me experience moments in my life through a different lens. Grace’s performance put me into moments of trance when she was taking us on a journey through Vanessa’s inner world. In other moments, her ability to bring characters into the room with her vocal nuances made me feel I was a voyeur to the character interactions. I feel uncomfortable, I feel like I need to talk about it and I want more.

Inconsistent and repetitive

The character development in "Winter's Fury" by A.E. Rayne presented several challenges for me. The characters often appeared inconsistent, and there were noticeable gaps in the plot. The narrative lacked a solid drive, which was dissatisfying. Despite the main female character being portrayed as fierce and strong, her relationship with a character who repeatedly betrays and undermines her felt unconvincing. Additionally, some characters were placed in powerful positions without clear justification for their suitability. Overall, the pacing of the book was slow and tended to be repetitive.

Another incredible narrative feat from Flynn. A truly gripping story of nuanced, full characters. I was hooked by the twists and turns, yet soothed by the voice actors cadence.

I was probably not in the right headspace for this great book

Post break up and on the road solo with my dog was probably not the right time to be reading this book.

It’s anxiety stricken, unfair and doesn’t leave you with a lot of hopeful moments. Written and narrated very well, it’s a book that highlights the unfairness of a system where the people on the “wrong” side are targeted and the dread of a no-option situation is palpable. I’m still reeling and will be for quite some time.

The characters are very well developed!

Good information

I enjoyed this book and feel like I could learn a lot. I feel more prepared for my puppy to be ready for me to pick her up.

The information is somewhat scrambled and repetitive. Commands and processes are not always clear.

The narration seemed a little rushed and at some points nonsensical. Perhaps that was the writing and not the reading. The last chapter, for example, makes little sense - many words seem incorrect or misplaced.

I would recommend it though as a an assistance tool for puppy prep.

Unbelievable people involved in this case

I think it's really wonderful that Audible got everyone together in the wake of the conviction. It's an incredible story of loss and various communities coming together. I think it sends a really important message out about how important it is for police from different states to communicate, and that with enough willpower and hard work, justice can be achieved for hundreds and even thousands of people who suffered in different ways at the hands of a monster. Crimes of this level of horror are luckily such an intangible thing for most of us to try to understand; I think it really helps victims to know that there are more and more people out there that want to be aware of what's going on around them, be active in supporting those who might need help and try to understand what these people have gone through. SSDGM.
