Very clever
It took me quite a while to get interested, in the beginning I thought that it was a bit confusing and not overly gripping, but looking back now, it is very cleverly constructed and once one gets used to the constant change it gets really interesting. Unforeseen ending, not sure my sense of justice agrees.

First Audiobook, good experience
This was my first audiobook and the experience was really good. I binged listened to it in two days, and I was really curious about what was going to happen next. The reader was excellent. I could concentrate, follow the story and could connect with the persons. My only problem with the book was the end. Not well developed, unbelievable and it ist he reason why I gave the book 3 stars.

Brilliantly narrated
Loved it. The narration is first rate. Story is also pretty good with lots of real life England actualities. My only problem is that the absolute solution to the riddle only comes with the epilogue. But still an excellent enjoyable experience.

Seht gutes Police-Procedural
... und tatsächlich ein Ende, das selbst mich alten Krimi-Hasen überrascht hat. Sehr zu empfehlen!

A really awful plot twist ruins it
The book is fast paced and generally interesting, although some of the chapters seem to have been artificially cut to create unearned extra tension. Plus, the narrators did a great job.
What is 100% unearned is the plot twist, that I won't spoil here. But it's abysmally bad. It makes zero logical sense, and there was no build up to it whatsoever. It was impossible to predict with the clues given, and re-reading the book doesn't change that.
It really is like a bad Shyamalan twist, out of nowhere for the twist's sake. It retroactively ruined the whole book for me.

Solid start to a new series
For the most part a solid police procedural with an interesting case and a decent investigation. The main character and his team are a little bland (except for a recent personal tragedy in DI Fawley's life we get to know very little about them). But it's the first book in a new series, and they'll all have time to shape up.
There are two things I didn't like about the book:
a) Although the social media posts between chapters are quite realistic and an interesting addition to the story, it's painful to listen to them on audio, because not only the postings are read out loud, but also all hashtags and handles (including the special characters, i.e. you hear every single @, every single # etc.). In a book I'd only read the postings and skip the rest, but in this audio version I had to listen to the complete entries. Very annoying and boring as hell.
b) The twist at the end was unexpected - unexpected because it was ridiculously far-fetched. You'd have to suspend a huge amount of disbelief to accept that this could actually happen. Up until then I really enjoyed the book, but that stupid ending almost ruined it for me.
