Ken Follett makes history sexy, no doubt.
Don't read if you want a potboiler.
Do read for 1) a deeply human story 2) to be immersed in a time when radios were the pinnacle of espionage. When trains ran lights out, crouds in public transport sang together to pass the time & coffee was bad & night-outs meant a lot of tea & only a few types of people might be caught driving on the roads with their blackened headlights & petrol rations .. aaaaah so fascinating!

Thank goodness these thick, immersive novels are available as audiobooks. Amazing performance by the reader too.

I loved the performance of the voice actors. The narrator's performance in Northanger Abbey stood out to me (I hadn't enjoyed the book as much when I read it so was happily surprised to be completely drawn into this audiobook version of it)

The stories are beautiful ofcourse, a good selection. But with translations the essense of the story may be lost - Not with this one though! Translation is good & something about the narrative esp. made this one stand. (..Indian English?, sincere & humble tone with a little bit of deadpan intensity & profound emotion that accompanies Bengali aabriti always ..lol..?)
