I genuinely wonder what Rooney wants to communicate with this book. One might want to ponder on how neoliberal relationships work after they look at this one.

Quite an interesting set of creatures. Almost got me thinking they were real. Listen to this book on a minimal speed as the sound effects are quite interesting.

For YA, this book is definitely bold and interesting. The teenage love was perfectly captured although a bit unrealistic. I like how the focus of the book was on multiple things and not just the romance. A beautiful book indeed.

Story
It's 1914, and talk of war feels far away to Henry Gaunt, Sidney Ellwood and the rest of their classmates, safely ensconced in their idyllic boarding school in the English countryside. At seventeen, they're too young to enlist, and anyway, Gaunt is fighting his own private battle - an all-consuming infatuation with his best friend, the dreamy, poetic Ellwood - not having a clue that Ellwood is in love with him, always has been. When Gaunt's German mother asks him to enlist as an officer in the British army to protect the family from anti-German attacks, Gaunt signs up immediately.

Story
Ash Summers is the most beautiful guy I’ve ever seen. He’s also a total d--k, and I hate him more than anything. That feeling is mutual, by the way, as he does nothing but torment me. Oh, and did I mention he’s my stepbrother? Messing with Ash is all fun and games until our parents force us to room together during our final year at college. Sharing an apartment with him only makes me hate him more. Until it doesn’t.
