Story
When Autobiography of a Yogi first appeared in 1946, it was acclaimed as a landmark work in its field. The New York Times hailed it as "a rare account". Newsweek pronounced it "fascinating". The San Francisco Chronicle declared, "Yogananda presents a convincing case for yoga, and those who 'came to scoff' may remain 'to pray." Today it is still one of the most widely read and respected books ever published on the wisdom of the East.

An inspirational peephole into the Yogic India
Reviewed: 17-04-21
Autobiography of a Yogi is essentially a new age biography of the Yogic aspects of India. As the narrative proceeds through the life of a great Indian Guru, there is a crisscross of geographies and chronologies which weaves a mesmerising and elevating experience for the readers. Notwithstanding whether one is familiar or not with Yoga and India, the book is a worthwhile guide.

The story is good enough. Nothing extreme or remarkable. But I found the narration to be too dramatic for my taste. An audiobook for replacing reading should be neutral according to me. At the same time, the effort and the variety of the narrator in its own was commendable.

Story
In this stunning audiobook, Malcolm Gladwell takes us on an intellectual journey through the world of "outliers" - the best and the brightest, the most famous, and the most successful. He asks the question: What makes high-achievers different? His answer is that we pay too much attention to what successful people are like, and too little attention to where they are from: That is, their culture, their family, their generation, and the idiosyncratic experiences of their upbringing.

An insight into what makes magic happen.

The book takes notes from a diverse collection of outliers to bring home the true nature of excellence. Around the beginning, it sounds like a fairy tale only meant to admire and feel good. By the end, it has transformed into a manual about identifying opportunities and giving them your best shot.

A good concept made mediocre.
Reviewed: 18-09-20
The premise is succinct and effective. The repetition is what makes it mediocre over time. By the end, the ideas instead of reaffirming themselves, simply sound like an echo. A good book all things considered, with many valuable insights.

A revolutionary system to get one per cent better every day. People think when you want to change your life, you need to think big. But world-renowned habits expert James Clear has discovered another way. He knows that real change comes from the compound effect of hundreds of small decisions – doing two push-ups a day, waking up five minutes early, or holding a single short phone call. He calls them atomic habits.

This is the fifth time I went through the novel. First time in audio format. It was a liberating experience given by the fact that I could listen while doing other things.
As for the novel, no words would do justice to the greatness. The characters, the narrative, the visual rendering, everything about this novel is in depth, and at the same time, succinct.

Stumbled across this while searching for works by Kafka. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The story has an otherworldly quality to it. The themes are true to their threads. The imagery is wild and surreal for most parts.
