  • चौरी-चौरा के घटना के बाद गाँधीजी के असहयोग आन्दोलन वापस ले लेने से कांग्रेस टूटकर स्वराज पार्टी बन जाती है. नयी पार्टी का मकसद आम चुनाव लड़ना और गुप्त रूप से क्रांतिकारियों कि भी मदद करना है जो गाँधी जी को मंजूर नहीं. टूटते कांग्रेस दल को गांधीजी तमाम प्रयाशों के बाद भी बचा नहीं पाते क्यूंकि उनके लिए आहिंसा परमोधर्म है. उसी वक़्त नाराज़ क्रांतिकारी दल से रामप्रसाद बिस्मिल "हिंदुस्तान रिपब्लिकन एसोसिएशन" का भी निर्माण कर डालते हैं. मकसद साफ़ था कि आज़ादी हथियारों के बल पे लेना.
