Information

Austria's first glacier ski resort

There is hardly a ski resort so varied as the one on and around the Kitzsteinhorn in the Zell am See-Kaprun region. In the high-alpine Kitzsteinhorn glacier ski resort, winter sports enthusiasts enjoy an extra-long ski season from fall until early summer due to its snow-secure altitude and top-notch snow management.

The close-to-town Maiskogel ski resort enjoys great popularity especially among families and mellow-minded skiers. Independently of skis and snowboards, both Kaprun town mountains offer incomparable nature and panorama bliss with unique attractions and adventure offerings at the Hohe Tauern National Park border.

K-ONNECTION: Kaprun – Maiskogel – Kitzsteinhorn
During peak season, the 12-km-long cable car route K-ONNECTION connects the Kaprun town center via the Maiskogel family mountain directly with the Kitzsteinhorn glacier ski resort. For winter sports fans, this means: ski-in ski-out from 768 to 3,029 meters.

Snowparks & superpipe
The Kitzsteinhorn features perfectly shaped snowparks both for beginners and pros. Starting from fall, they provide the extra adrenaline kick, boasting an extraordinary variety of easy, medium and pro lines. The superpipe is the bomb – world's best freestylers train on the up to 6.5-m-high walls.

Freeriding & ski touring
5 marked routes close to the lifts guarantee freeriders the ultimate terrain powder experience. The "Freeride INFO BASE" and "INFO POINTS" provide valuable information about the avalanche threat level as well as safety in general. Ski tourers looking to get in some training will also find two marked ascents alongside the piste beginning in fall, given sufficient snow.

Food & drinks
On the Kitzsteinhorn and Maiskogel, numerous restaurants, bars and huts pamper guests with a wealth of culinary offerings. Whether typically Austrian, alpine-modern or atmospheric – here, between 768 and 3,000 m, there’s something certain to appeal to everybody throughout the day, from panoramic breakfast to après-ski umbrella bars.

Part of ALPIN CARD: enjoy 408 km of slopes and up to 121 cable cars and ski lifts in the three premium ski resorts Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See and Kitzsteinhorn Kaprun, glacier included

Highlights

  • Extra-long ski season from fall until early summer in the glacier ski resort
  • Soft family runs on the Maiskogel and beginners' area on the Lechnerberg in Kaprun
