Joel H. Lamstein Scholarship Fund.
In honor of Joel Lamstein’s lifetime commitment to public health and education, Lamstein’s family endowed a new SPH Scholarship Fund to celebrate Lamstein’s Legacy at JSI.
Lamstein was president and founder of John Snow, Inc., the nonprofit JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc., and World Education, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving lives through education, economic, and social development programs.
The Joel H. Lamstein Endowed Scholarship Fund will be a permanently endowed fund, and will provide annual need-based scholarship awards to one or more graduate students at the Boston University School of Public Health who are studying or have an interest in global health, with a preference for students who have experience living in or an interest working in low-income countries, as designated by the World Bank.
For me, Joel’s leadership is unparalleled. I’ve heard him tell JSI’s evolution story many, many times and it never gets old. Without question, he lives the “why” behind why he started JSI.”Megan Hiltner (SPH '05), 18 years with JSI
