Discussing youth co-operation: Armenian delegation visits the European Youth Centre

On 6 December, the Youth Department welcomed Artur Martirosyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia, along with Marianna Manucharyan, Deputy to the Permanent Representative of Armenia to the Council of Europe. Tobias Flessenkemper, Head of the Youth Department, introduced the delegation to the department’s work, and the European Youth Centre of the Council of Europe, highlighting its unique architectural heritage and significance.

Discussions explored the transformative impact the Youth Department programmes hosted at the European Youth Centre have on young people. The centre's distinctive design is conducive to exchanges, discussions, while reflecting Europe as a shared space.

The visit also focused on the Council of Europe’s co-management system, emphasising the active participation of Armenian governmental and non-governmental representatives. Insights were shared on the Council of Europe’s Quality Label for Youth Centres and related policy support measures, which hold special relevance for Armenia.

The meeting provided the opportunity to identify the main directions of the future co-operation activities in Armenia, as well as its participation at the 10th Ministerial Conference on Youth, taking place from 30 September to 2 October 2025 in Malta.

Finally, the Deputy Minister, once a participant of the EYCS programme himself, had a brief exchange with young people from Armenia, currently participating in the training course “Peace education and conflict transformation with young people”.
