This week, the European Youth Centre Budapest is hosting a study session with young activists and community leaders on “Improving the Sexual and Reproductive Health of Roma Women and Roma LGBTQ+ Communities,” co-organised with Phiren Amenca International Network.
The study session will support young people to advocate and promote the sexual and reproductive health rights of Roma women and the Roma LGBTQI+ people and will equip participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to develop human rights-based advocacy projects and campaigns.
Throughout the week, participants will engage in interactive workshops to develop their knowledge on topics such as human rights, combating antigypsyism, sexual and reproductive health rights, and sex education.
The participants will discuss and debate the issues affecting the lives of Roma and LGBTQI+ youth – taking an intersectional approach to explore the ways in which systems fail to meet the unique needs of marginalised communities – and will identify some of the key stakeholders that they can engage to effect change.
Experts from leading NGOs, advocacy organisations and participants will present and share best practices examples of health advocacy initiatives. Following this input, participants will learn how to design effective campaigns and actions that seek to address critical issues affecting Roma Women and Roma LGBTQ+ communities.
By the end of the week, participants will have developed plans for action, that will inform their activism and advocacy efforts and in their home countries.
