President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Visits the European Youth Centre Budapest

On 4 December, the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Theodoros Rousopoulos visited the European Youth Centre Budapest (EYCB). The visit took place as part of the President’s official visit to attend the Interparliamentary Conference on Cultural Heritage and the Identity of Traditional Minorities.

The President of the Parliamentary Assembly was greeted by Executive Director of EYCB, Balint Molnar and Deputy Director, Marcos Andrade, before being given a tour of the European Youth Centre’s premises.

Mr. Rousopoulos then held a wide-ranging discussion with the EYCB management team, followed by a meeting with the preparatory team of the upcoming study session “Digital Health Citizenship: Enfranchising Young People to Co-create Tools and Innovative Solutions”, co-organised by the Youth Department and DTH-Lab.

The visit provided an ideal opportunity to explore the Youth Department’s extensive programme of activities, in addition to discussing the vital role that the European Youth Centres in Strasbourg and Budapest play in its implementation.

Following a fruitful exchange on future cooperation opportunities between PACE and the European Youth Centres, the President of the Parliamentary Assembly met with Council of Europe staff based in Budapest.

The European Youth Centre Budapest (EYCB) is the main Council of Europe presence in Hungary. Opened in 1995, EYCB will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2025. Together with the European Youth Centre Strasbourg (EYCS), the centre is an important instrument of the Council of Europe’s youth policy.
