The latest update of the Eurydice system-level indicators has just been published. It provides an interactive tool for exploring four critical areas of education policy: early childhood education and care, early leaving from education and training, education and training systems in higher education, and equity in school and higher education.
This is the first time that the Eurydice system-level indicators take the form of an interactive web tool, allowing users to easily navigate and visualise the collected data. This user-friendly interface enables a deeper understanding of the complexities and variations in education systems across Europe.
The Eurydice system-level indicators draw on data from all EU Member States and Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, and Türkiye. Information refers to 2023/2024 school and academic year.
These indicators serve as an important source of information for the European Commission's annual Education and Training Monitor providing a comprehensive analysis of the development of education and training systems across the continent.
Explore Four Key Areas of Education Policy:
- Early childhood education and care (ECEC): The Eurydice indicators offer a detailed look at the five main aspects of ECEC, including the right to affordable and high-quality education for all children. The data reveals significant variations between European countries regarding public commitment to providing ECEC, staff requirements, and educational guidelines.
- Early leaving from education and training (ELET): The system-level indicators explore four main areas of policy development in addressing ELET, including actions taken to reduce early leaving and to support young people in obtaining an upper secondary education qualification.
- Higher education: The indicators provide a snapshot of key policies in higher education: tackling gender equity issues and admission policies in the context of lifelong learning.
- Equity in school and higher education: The Eurydice indicators focus on the conditions conducive to equity in education. Equity is defined as the attainment of educational achievements and qualifications, regardless of the learner's socioeconomic, cultural, racial, or other background.
