On 26 September 2024, Member States of the European Free Trade Association – Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland – and the Republic of Kosovo concluded a Free Trade Agreement. Further details can be found in a Chapter-by-Chapter Fact Sheet. The EFTA-Kosovo FTA was signed on 22 January 2025 in Davos, Switzerland. Its entry into force is currently pending.
EFTA and Kosovo launched their negotiations towards a free trade agreement in June 2022. Between August 2022 and September 2024, four negotiation rounds and several intersessional meetings were held.

Information about agreement
Summary
As a modern Free Trade Agreement, the EFTA-Kosovo Agreement covers trade in goods, technical barriers to trade (TBT) and sanitary and phytosanitary measures (SPS), trade in services, intellectual property rights, trade facilitation, trade remedies, competition, trade and sustainable development, as well as legal and horizontal provisions.
Merchandise trade between the EFTA States and the Republic of Kosovo has grown rapidly since 2008. In 2023, the total trade volume reached EUR 175 million, of which EUR 76 million represented imports from Kosovo and EUR 99 million were exports from the EFTA States. Over the past five years, exports from EFTA States to Kosovo have achieved an average annual growth rate of 20.4%.
Negotiations towards the Free Trade Agreement were preceded by a Joint Declaration on Cooperation, signed in November 2018. At a Joint Committee meeting held in November 2020, discussions focused on opportunities to strengthen economic relations and enhance cooperation, leading to the official launch of negotiations in June 2022.
