More than 125 experts from 22 European countries representing nuclear installation licensee organisations, national regulatory authorities, technical expert groups, international organisations, as well as the European Commission and observer countries gathered together at the ENSREG Topical Peer Review Country Review workshop on ‘Fire Protection’ at nuclear installations, taking place this week (30 September - 3 October 2024) in Luxembourg).
As part of the cooperation activities between EU Members States authorities under the Nuclear Safety Directive, the TPR II thematic workshop aims to facilitate the exchange of information on national approaches on the different fire protection thematic areas (fire safety analysis, passive and active fire protection, fire prevention), and on the use of operating experience, as well as to identify national areas of good performance and areas for improvement. The peer review is led by Sylvie-Cadet Mercier (ASN) who is chair of the Board overseeing the process, and involves around 40 experts from national safety authorities in the 22 participating countries. An earlier thematic workshop identified good practices and challenges at EU-level on fire-safety topics.
