Oι επιτροπές μπορούν να διοργανώνουν ακροάσεις με τη συμμετοχή εμπειρογνωμόνων, όταν αυτό κρίνεται ουσιώδους σημασίας για το έργο τους επί ενός συγκεκριμένου θέματος. Οι ακροάσεις μπορούν να διοργανώνονται από κοινού, από δύο ή περισσότερες επιτροπές. Οι περισσότερες επιτροπές διοργανώνουν ακροάσεις τακτικά, εφόσον αυτό τους επιτρέπει να ενημερώνονται για τις απόψεις εμπειρογνωμόνων και να συζητούν μαζί τους για τα σημαντικότερα θέματα.
